Question 8520 = Curve / 8500 ?

Please Login to Remove!

Just a newbie question I can't seem to find the answer to;

How come there's a 'Curve' forum and a separate '8500 (Gemini?)' forum when my phone is called a 'Curve 8520'?

(Which is it?! My BB is developing a personality complex!) lol

Thanks

There is an 8520 (GSM) and an 8530 (CDMA). Hence the 8500 forum.

When the 8300s came out, they were called the Curve. For whatever reason, RIM started putting a 2 after some names. Curve 2 (8520) is not a Curve (8300) and Bold "2" (9700) is not a Bold (9000). The department of name obfuscation has grown.

I think what NJBlackBerry was saying is RIM is recycling phone names. Trust the model number instead.
