Default upgrading to OS6

Please Login to Remove!

Okay friends. Here's the deal. I'm tired and strapped for time. I would search but it takes too long and the information is hard to extract. I'm asking for your help. Please give me a clear, concise guide on how to wipe my BB, shrink OS 6 and install it in the best way possible. I've upgraded before in the beta stage and it was not a pleasant experience. My girlfriend just got a refurb 9700 after dropping hers in the bathtub and apparently 9700s are shipping with OS 6 and I've got the bug to upgrade again. My 1 year old is teething and has a major ear infection and I just do not have the time to figure all this stuff out. Thank you.

See the top of the 9700 section. Read the sticky. The latest OS and instructions for installing are there. Not sure what you mean by "shrinking" it.

If you cannot do something on your own, why should we take the time to help?

I told you where to find it. What else do you need?

I needed less of an attitude. I couldn't have been any more polite. You immediately assumed the position of "douche bag" and it was unnecessary. Is that what online forums have come to? The people who spend a good portion of their lives on forums supposedly to help others have become so disgruntled by the masses of people who join seemingly just to ignite flame wars and bash the basis of the forum that they find themselves being unkind? If everything has been discussed and you can find anything you want with the search button and FAQ's, why bother keeping the forum open? Why not just shut 'er down and keep the information as a read-only library to be accessed by Googling your query?

What is the purpose of this forum if not to help those who cannot do it themselves?

Wow. The FAQ has the most concise guide possible. It's no-nonsense and complete. And the sticky at the top of the 9700 forum has the link to download the latest version of OS 6 for that model.

The only easier thing would be to have somebody actually do it for you.

There are people here to help, but generally not here to spoon feed unless it turns out someone really needs it.

A320Mech, when you said you didn't have time to do the work, I thought to myself I don't have time either, and skipped on to find someone who really needed help.

Lots of very polite people take advantage of others all the time. Being polite doesn't make it different.

Otherwise, I would have continued ignoring this thread.

The point is... to help others use previously documented tips to help themselves.

That's what dubdub did. I just think the last sentence was not necessary. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, be a troll or otherwise waste anyones time here. My post count isn't high, but I have helped others and although not on the magnitude the mods have, I have contributed to this organization.

As far as shrinking the OS before installing on your phone, check out BB Boss OS Shrinker. I personally haven't used it, but a number of members have before installing OS6. Basically, you would install the OS you want on your computer (delete the vendor.xml file), run the shrinker program, and then install to your phone. Check out this how-to video: YouTube - ‪Guide on how install LATEST OS6 on ANY BLACKBERRY! (Links in the description)‬‏
