I'm giving it a shot later tonight, too, on my old 8700c ... we'll see what goes down with it when it's done.

Working for me...even edited my own blackberry.alx without incident, a first for me, though I have to ask--would I have been able to use an edited version from one of the previous upgrades? Or does this have to be done each time?

For some weird reason I kept getting "app error 200" when I installed this version, but my persistence in wiping then reinstalling finally got it to work; my device has been a tad screwy lately so I'm guessing it's the problem. Besides that it's working great!

Has anyone noticed that IM+ 5.0.7 looks and acts different then it did on 4.2.1.96? Now I have to hit ALT+Scroll wheel to get the menus to come up, I like it. I'm also no longer getting a prompt for an update for the 8100

IM+ and the test version of Freerange use the blue led light for notification, pretty sweer.

Talking question about 4.2.1163

Howdy all, Currently I am running v 4.2.1.96 on my 8700c.
How will changing to 4.2.1163, improve my8700? Also, what the heck is G.S.M.?

Thanks in advance.

Talking ????Question about 4.2.1163

Howdy all, Currently I am running OS 4.2.1.96 on my 8700c. What benefits are there to changing to 4.2.1163?
Does it have new applications? Is it faster? Does the GSM have anything to do with Global Positioning?

Thanks in advance.

Angry issues on my 8700 with FW: 4.2.1.94

Hi there
am new to this site and updated my 8700 just yesterday with little success.
Why did i upgrade?
had my supported bluetooth headset from Logitec disconnecting after 10 or so seconds.
After installation the problems started:
- resets using certain ringtones and therefore resets while calls come in
- bluetooth didnt disconnect anymore, but the sound quality was bad. (every other word was heard if at all)
- speaker in the back made strange clicking noise

and now?
I did a downgrade to 4.1.0.284 and live with Bluetooth disconnects....
...and my next mobile phone? probably not a BB anymore.

I second that. I was using 4.2.1.96 from at&t and this seems much better the scroll lag is gone and it is more responsive to button clicks.

JimiSpier has posted this direct link a few posts above.
It is always a good idea to read the "complete" thread before
asking 'strange' questions wouldn't you say?

I just noticed you can now set a background image for the VodaToday theme on the applications list only.

I believe you can get it via the link here. Go to the bottom of the first post and see the .alx file I believe you are requesting...

So is it me of the new browser seem to format much better then the first 4.2 release? I mean much much better, website seem much more true to there original configuration. So much so that I don't feel the need to install opera 4, I am using slighty different setting then I have in the past, but don't think that they are effecting anything.

Also does this release seem to be more of a ram hog, but less of a battery killler. It just seems like everything is a tiny bit better, maybe its in my head.
