i highly recommend the psp covers... for 5.99 at best buy, i was able to cut 2 covers to size. it feels like the same material as the exim/martins overlays, so it should do until a proper 8700 cover comes out. frankly, i have a feeling i'll be using this one permanently, as it's definitely a very high quality.
it does suck to have to cut to size, but luckily the width is perfect for the 8700, so you're only really making 1 cut to get it to size.

Default Screen Guard

I purchased the screenguardz protector for my 8700c. They are small and only cover the viewing area of the screen, not the entire screen. I got an email from screenguardz stating they would refund my money if I wasn't satisfied. I replied that while the protector was small it was OK. They commented that they were working on a full screen replacement and would send me a complimentary set when available.

So the screenguardz version should be full size soon.

Can anybody vouch for the screenguardz? I know they are releasing the full face cover soon, but I'm just curious why they give you 15 of them? Do they go bad quickly or do you have to put on a new one every month? Or am I going to have serious leftovers?

Good question. I used three trying to customize one to fit perfectly. That one has been on my 8700 for a few days now. So far it seems to be holding up ok. I haven't used any of their products before though so I have no idea what they're like in the long term.

Just got a response from Screenguardz regarding the full face cover - they are slotted to be available in two weeks but they are trying to push for sooner.

Arg - my bb is naked right now.

By the way, I absolutely love this phone. Its by far the best bb i have ever owned (former 7290 and 7100t owner)

Thumbs up The Invisible Shield

The best screen guard around is sold by http://www.theinvisibleshield.com.
They currently don't have one for the 8700c, put I their iPod, PSP, and other versions, and that material is amazing (they use it to laminate helicopter blades) and will not scratch, ever.

Perhaps if we show enough demand (each of us sends them an email) they'll make one for the 8700c.

Just a thought....

Default Boxwave Screen Protectors

Used the ClearTouch Crystal on my Treo 650 and it was incredible. Their web site (www.boxwave.com) doesn't list any for the 8700. I emailed asking if they plan to offer them. Will post when I get an answer for those interested.

Be advised that I placed and recieved an order from them and (1) they didn't fit the entire screen, (2) they didn't even fit the "core" screen area (they were too wide), and (3) they were extremely hazy. I have emailed them requesting a refund.

Buyer beware.......

Default 100% guarantee - Boxwave site

I figure no risk and they did say they were getting full screen models. Better than what I haven now until something better comes. Everyone should to to the boxwave request site and maybe they will get the picture.

May have been already mentioned but until some of the high-end screen protectors (Pocket PC Techs, Martin Fields etc.) are released I'm using the Fellowes product that is universal. The back side of it is graphed so you can cut the protector to the exact size of the screen for the device you own. They install pretty easy (sometimes it takes more than one to get it on with zero bubbles, but any small bubbles that remain are not seen with the screen on.

I picked them up at Comp USA.

I put in a request to Boxwave a couple weeks ago, but it doesn't look like they will have anything anytime soon, so I bought a PSP one to cut. Will get back to you guys on it once I have time. I have a cheapy Belkin one for a T5 that required very little cutting (bottom corners and one arch). That seems to be the best size really. However, my Belkin is like looking through frosted glass. The Boxwave one I used on my Treo 650 is completely clear. I wouldn't be able to tell there was something on there unless I looked for the edge (and it's washable)!

again, the psp covers available at best buy are the same material as the martins overlays (at least feel the same and have performed just as well in the week since i put it on). and they're 5.99 and require only 1 cut to fit the majority of the main screen (and you get 2 equivalents on the 1 sheet they give you). i tried the screenguardz and i'm extremely disappointed with the material - it scratches and bunches very easily, especially if you put your bb in your pocket.

Thanks for the info I just ordered for my ipod and 7250 these sound incredible. Also dropped a note asking when the 8700 would be completed.

Also check out the video if that doesn't convince you nothing will:
