Default Confirm Date and Time

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I've been having a problem with my date and time on the BB. I have noticed that when I do a battery pull, my date and time have to be confirmed upon power up of the BB. The BB will turn on with an option to "confirm date and time - Yes/No options" hitting yes to confirm will take me to the options->date/time where I notice the time is wrong (it will read the time that I did the battery pull, so a minute or two slow), so I hit update time, and all is well until the next battery pull. Even when the battery is only out for 20-30 seconds, the time will be behind the network time. I have the BB set to use network time, but it for some reason doesn't update the time at power up.

Any ideas as to what could case this behavior??

What is the date/time source settings in options? Is it off? If so, change to Blackberry or Network, be sure and save the settings, then test.

That's the only thing that occurs to me.

I have it set to network....haven't ever switched it. I have since tested with Blackberry and Off (then save) and the same thing happens.

I have been using this OS for quite some time and never noticed this before, the only thing I've done recently is test of Opera Mini...and then uninstall it after a few days. I guess the time of this problem could coincide with OM, but could it cause this kind of problem?

Don't have any good ideas. Does the network time and date show in date time options when this happens happens? Maybe the BB is not able to get network time for some reason and hence the reason the BB asks you to confirm.

FWIW I installed OM a week or so ago and deleted it a short time later. I've never seen this, but there have been times when I'm changing time zone and noticed the BB unable to get network time at that particular moment.

Oh well, if it keeps happening, I will reinstall OS and see if the issue resolves itself. Thanks for the help

Well, I'm curious now. See if there's a correlation between the prompt to confirm time and network time and date not showing in options. I'm betting it's not OS issue but instead something like this.
I don't know why the BB can't get network time once in a while, but it has always been a temporary thing for me.

The time and date show in the options page when I get there, its just that the device date/time is behind it, even though it is set to network. The time has always been right down there where it gives the network time.

Could this be a memory issue? I wouldn't thin so, since I range anywhere from 24-17 mb free.

I dunno.

Post the answer if you figure it out, unless someone comes along and provides solution before then.

Will do. I'm gonna do some more battery pulls and see what happens today.

Default Testing Results

Okay, here are some things to ponder....I did some battery pulls, took some screen shots and here is what I have.

BB before battery pull - time is correct

BB Date and Time screen before battery pull

BB after battery pull and start up - notice same time

BB confirm D/T dialog

Clicking Edit brings us the D/T page in options - notice the network time against the BB time - also the following pics are just the steps taken to get the correct time

I also did the same steps with the Date/Time Source set to "OFF" and "Blackberry" with the same results as the pics above. It also happens with all the themes that I have listed above in an earlier post.

The only thing that I noticed to be different than usual, is the signal that my phone was getting. I never get EDGE coverage at my home, but I am in a very strong (5 bars) GPRS area. When I put the battery back in the BB and it powered on, notice the signal is only gprs...it took a good 5 minutes to obtain the GPRS signal...it would normally just cycle through the gsm GSM gprs GPRS rather quickly, within about 30 seconds or so....

Could this be an OS, a network, or a device problem? I have noticed that my browsing has been a tad slower than normal, but I don't know if that has anything to do with anything....input????

It seems that no one here has any more suggestions, which is kind of strange, someone usually knows the answer.

I have been digging into this on my own and even though aiharkness didn't think it was an OS problem, I have been reinstalling the OS and finding some things out.

When I reinstall the same OS 4.2.1.107, all appears fine. I will do battery pulls and the time auto updates itself. I continue to resend service books, do battery pulls, time will auto update itself. From there, I install the theme that I like, do some battery pulls, the time will auto update itself, so it all seems fine.

Then I will restore my backup and that is where I start to have a problem...I will restore, pull the battery and then the time will not auto update upon connection anymore.

So the steps I have take have been..
1. reinstall os
2. send service books
3. install theme
4. restore backup

I have done these steps in different orders (except of course number 1) and the problem comes whenever I restore my back up....

My next step is going to be restoring one thing at a time (address book, memos, tasks, etc) then move on to installing the 3rd party programs until I find the culprit...

Does anyone else have a different suggestion for what I should do before I start that???

Thanks.
