Default $$500++ Bill From Cingular

Please Login to Remove!

I recently received my cingular bill of $500+ I have the blackberry unlimited plan but I was being charged pay per use. I called CS and they have credited me. I use my Instant Messenger alot on my BB. Since I was using WAP that was the reason why I was billed the outrageous amount. What do I need to add to my plan in order for me to use my IM with out getting charge with a huge bill. I just think its crazy that I already am paying 44.99$ per month then on top of that I have to add something else on my account. Thanks in advance.

That's a load of crap. If you're paying for the unlimited data plan that includes ALL data - email, WAP, internet, etc. They are yanking your chain. Call then back and raise h#ll.

I have been good for 4 months, but last month got charged for some IM access, not $500 worth, but a little. I called, they credited my account and changed something, so hopefully this month I won't have to make that call again.

Since they don't seperate pay verses free usage on their website, you can't really see it until you get the bill :(

I was informed by the Cingular CS that WAP is not included in the BB unlimited plan. If anyone can tell me what I need to add to my account in order for me NOT to get charge next month, I will appreciate it. Thanks again.

you got lied to...basic wap is covered through the plan...basically, anything that passes through the wap or the BB browser should be covered...problem that you may be running into is the the im that you are using may not be passing through either one of those and that is why you are seeing charges...which im are you using??

This is all crap. Cingular should make it easy on us and them: Any data should be free. I don't know, nor do I care what it goes through (WAP, http, https, ssl, etc) - it's all the same to me. Give me a freakin' break. Unlimited should be unlimited. I don't want to have to worry about what tunnel a particular piece of data is going through. I hope I don't have any problems on my bill because I'm not going to waste time arguing with them. I'll just take the thing back.

Anyone else had this issue with Cingular? Getting billed for using IM 3rd party software?

Had the same problem for the past 4 months. Had to call so the credit my account. Last bill came accurate, maybe they got tired of me calling.

I have noticed this on an application that we use for work.
My understanding is that if it isnt mail and the browser, you get charged extra for the data. The rate is so low, that it never was above a couple of dollars.

I use the BB Messanger and have never been billed beyond the unlimited data plan. Also use the Web and dont see any extra billing. I was told ALL data was included with the exception of SMS messaging. For that they suck $.10 per message out of me so i dont use it. BB messanger works with any BB and works well.
