Unhappy Changing the user account on the Controller service

Please Login to Remove!

I'm attempting to change the account that's used to start all the blackberry services on my BES. I've successfully managed to change it (and have the BES still work) on every service except the Blackberry Controller service. When I use this account - let's call it "besadmin" - the service restarts without incident, but I immediately lose all mailflow to my blackberrys. I've tried restarting the entire server, but I have the same issue. The service starts, but the blackberrys don't send or receive mail. As soon as I go back to the old account mail starts working again.

Any ideas? The account I'm using has the following rights:

- Log on as a service to the BES server (and only the bes server)
- Local administrator rights on the BES server
- Send as / Receive as rights on the information store (as per the install instructions)

It seems strange to me that the account would work with all the other services except Controller. As it stands now I have this besadmin account running all my services except for the controller service, which is still being run by the old account and the blackberrys are working fine. I need to get rid of the old account if at all possible.

I'm running BES 4 w/ SP3 on Windows Server 2003 (sp2). My exchange is 2003.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a bit more information....

My controller log says the following after I restart the service with under the new account:

30000] (11/04 13:27:25):{0x1DC} BlackBerry Agent Controller Started
[30000] (11/04 13:27:27):{0x1358} 'SERVER1' agent 1 started as process 4904
[30000] (11/04 13:27:28):{0x1358} 'SERVER1' agent 1 stopped. Exit code = 4294967294
[30000] (11/04 13:27:28):{0x1358} 'SERVER1' agent 1 will start in 9 seconds
[30000] (11/04 13:27:38):{0x1358} 'SERVER1' agent 1 started as process 2856
[30000] (11/04 13:27:39):{0x1358} 'SERVER1' agent 1 stopped. Exit code = 4294967294

etc, etc. This will go on until I stop the service, then restart it under the old account.

Shooting in the dark here, but:

Are you using the same credentials for database access? Has the database and/or DSN been modified to match the new account?

Thanks for the reply. I'm using Windows (Trusted) authentication for the database, which resides on another server. Do I need to do anything with this other server?

The service accounts that you use to install and use the BES server must also have permissions on the SQL server and the config db. It seems that you are running the BES infrastructure under two accounts - one that runs the BES services and another tha logs into the SQL db. You should be also experiencing problems launching the BM console and administering the users?
The following should provide some help.....http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...60618&vernum=0

acnst doc is very good. It's likely Step 8 and 9 that needs to be done.

Indeed, it was steps 7 & 8 - the registry export/import - that resolved the issue. Once I did the import and restarted the service things worked fine.

Thanks again!
