Red face # of rings?

Please Login to Remove!

My phone only rings 3 times before going to voicemail. How do I control this? On my last phone it was a voicemail option but I can't find how on the 7290... Thanks!

On GSM, I don't think you can control the number of rings before going to voicemail. At least not on Rogers Wireless.

Bell Mobility (and most CDMA carriers) allow you to control this. I forget the star number we use...I believe it's *94 + X (x being the desired number of rings).

Hi. I am not sure what carrier you are using, but I am Nextel/ Sprint support and I know that when customers call in because they want the BB to ring more times before going to voicemail we just have to add a Ringtime Extension to the account (which is free of charge) and the phone will ring 6 or 7 times before going to voicemail.

Good to know, thanks. I may have to call Nextel and get that setup.

I just called them and it took me 5 minutes to get setup. 1800639611 or dial 611 from your BB. Now only if there was a way to hear the ring from my handsfree ear peice.

Any other free of charge service we should know about? The support lady I spoke to said they are working on a caller ID system for numbers outside your contacts, kind of like Caller ID for lan lines at home. Do you know anything about that?

Call took less than 4 minutes from the first ring adds 3 to five rings on the phone before going to VM

you will have to use the GSM code to extend the time period. this is not necessarily number of rings so much as time - it is probably set, by default, to 20 seconds or so. the longer the ringtone lasts, the lower the number of rings total before VM. maximum time is 30 seconds, but, in most cases the maximum allowed will also incur you a minute charge for airtime.

Thanks all. I'm on Cingular in the US. I guess I'll just 611 them. If it's so easy (3 minutes) for Nextel, it must be similar for Cingular.

Digression: Saw Aqualung, the perishers and Tracy Bonham last night - incredible concert!) Peace out.

Hi,

sorry for the delay haven't been on for a couple of days, to change Voda UK, try the following (it worked for me!).

You can manually change the length of ring time up to 30 seconds, firstly you need your mailbox number.. this can be found by dialing *#104# this will result in something like 44(string of digits, this is your mailbox number, ignore the letter after it.)

make a note of the numbers.

now type:
**61*+44mailboxnumber*10*30# and press send.

This should result in a message from the network and hopefully 15 extra seconds before the call switches to voicemail, you don't appear to be able to increase above the 30 seconds though.

Thanks for getting back! I'll give it a try.
