Default "Dial by Name" issue on 4.1

Please Login to Remove!

My upgrade to 4.1 went flawlessly. The one feature missing in 4.1 is Dial by Name from home. You need to go to address book, click call user and select #. Taking away the Dial by Name option is INSANE!!!

I want to smash my BB against the wall each time I attempt to make a call.

I've been using a BB since 1999 and I think this was their worst mistake ever.

If anybody has a fix I implore you to please email me

Unless i am misunderstanding your problem, you can still dial by name in OS 4.1

All you have to do is hold the send button a few seconds and it brings up the dial by name prompt... Note, though this is on an 8700c with the new send button... it may not be possible on a 7290 or older phone...

It is only possible on BlackBerrys with the green send button. So that means it works on the 8700s and 71xxs only.

I feel your pain abrecher, I've post a number of times about this and someone else, and myself, even offered some $$ for someone to write a fix. However, NJblackberry is saying it isn't possbile.

I agree though, UNBELIEVABLE that it was taken away.

I just "upgraded" from a 6230 and I am absolutely amazed that the 7290 does not have Dial by name... What were they thinking???? Does this work with older OS' running on the 7290??? I upgraded to 4.1...
Thanks for any help .

Wow, you are the man! I've been missing this desperately ever since I upgraded my old 7290 to 4.1, and I didn't know about that feature on my new 8700c. Thanks!

I don't post here much, just lurk mostly. Holding the send button for a second or two brings up a dial by name option on my 7250 on Verizon. I can then either scroll through my contacts or type the name and is does like it used to do and finds 'em.
