SetExtent of popupScreen

Hi,
I am really struggling to find the correct solution to my problem so any help is appreciated. The popupscreen i use is curently to big for my animated-gif that i add to it - i add animatedgiffield to verticalfieldmanager and then i construct a popupscreen with the verticalfieldmanager.
This leaves an ugly popupscreen with a white backgrounded - animated-gif in the centre with the black background around it.
I have tried all kinds of paintbackground, paint, setsublayout - set extent but am not getting anywhere - I want a white popupscreen so my white animatedgif doesn't look out of place or i'll take a small popupscreen so i can only see the animated gif.
Does anyone know the correct solution please?
