Default Using BET to move BESX 4.1.4 to BESX 5.0.3

Please Login to Remove!

Doing an SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 migration and I'm working on moving BESX. I have downloaded and installed BET on the new server. When I try to configure the source database I get an error that BET could not open a connection to the source database. I am just using the built in SQL Express on both machines. Both machines are on the same AD domain

I think I need to allow remote connections for the source, but I'm not sure how. I'm also not 100% sure I am using the right database names. I see a service called "SQLAgent$BESMGMT" on the source server and "SQL Server (BLACKBERRY)" on the destination server.

When I put the SQL server as SOURCESERVER\BESMGMT and the database as BESMGMT using NT authentication for the besadmin user I get an error
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that the SQL Server us configured to allow remote connections. (provider:named pipes provider, error:40-Could not open a connection to SQL server)

When I put the SQL server as DESTINATIONSERVER\BLACKBERRY and the database as BLACKBERRY using NT authentication for my besadmin user I get a login failed. I get the same thing for the domain admin and SQL authentication using the sa account.

What am I missing?

The source server name should be SOURCESERVER.
The destination server name should be DESTINATIONSERVER.

Don't add the database name to the server name.

Also check the Transporter compatibility matrix first:

Installation considerations - BlackBerry Enterprise Transporter - Installation and Administration Guide - BlackBerry Enterprise Server Resource Kit - 5.0.3

I have the free version of 4.1.4.12 on my source server. I have BESX 5.0.3 on my destination server. According to the matrix I am supported. I think I am missing a few steps on both machines. I can't make a connection to the source server and I get a password error on the destination server.

On the source server under BlackBerry Server Configuration I see the SQL Information showing
SOURCE
SQL Server: SOURCESERVER\BESMGMT
Database: BESMgmt
Authentication: Windows (Trusted)

DESTINATION
SQL Server: DESTINATIONSERVER\BLACKBERRY
Database: BESMgmt
Authentication: Windows (Trusted)

I was able to get connected to the DESTINATION database. Now I need to get connected to the SOURCE! I really think there is something I need to do on the source server to allow connections in.
