So there's not even a way to connect your BB to your PC via USB to transfer MP3's over to your ringtone folder?
I would think there is an application out there that allows this so that you can then select one of these transferred MP3s in your profile ringtone, no?

Look on that Handango site. There's a program where you can record your own mp3's and use them as ringtones. I've never used it, but it might be what you are looking for.

This is pretty pedestrian, I know, but I liked the phone ring tone I had on my old 7290 better than any that came with my 8700.

Are the rintone files compatible? Could I grab the file off a 7290 with Desktop Manager, load it on the the 8700, and use it?

Let me bump this thread. And I don't mean to be hijacking it but since my question(s) concern ringtones I hope it's appropriate.

I really would like to copy the Ring 4 plain vanilla ringtone off my old 7290 on to my 8700. Doing some searching and reading, it seems like the 8700 will support the monotone midi format that the 7290 used.

The question is...how do I get that Ring 4 file from the 7290 on to the 8700?

I thought I could use Desktop Manager 4.2's Media Manager function. But it won't play with either the 7290 or 8700 because neither has Device Software 4.2.

I went back to Desktop Manager 4.1. No Media manager there, and no way I can see to transfer a system file between the handheld and my laptop.o if

So if anyone can suggest how I can accomplish what I'm trying to do, or just tell me it can't be done and why, I'll appreciate it.
