I've searched and can't find this question on the Forum. I get a box saying -

"Your computer must be connected to the Internet in order to initially configure synchronization settings. Please ensure that you are able to connect to the Internet and try again."

I'm on the Internet. I'm writing this message. I just bought an 8830 through Verizon.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Thanks

I had the same problem after upgrading to DM 4.3 on a Windows 2000 PC. I downgraded to Desktop Manager 4.2 sp2 and everything worked OK again.

BTW, I have been using DM 4.3 on Windows XP for a long time with no issues at all. Recently upgraded my curve 8310 to 4.5 OS and also have Unite on the XP machine just in case any one is trying to tie together loose ends.

The W2K PC is my work machine and runs BB redirector.

I went and opened my IE7. It was pointing to a dead page and in OFFLINE mode. (I have no idea how it got that way, probably some update or another) Once I pointed it to an active website and closed IE7... the error message went away and now I can sync.

I had the same problem with DM 4.5. I turned off the McAfee firewall and the desktop app was then able to get to the internet and completed the setup.
