Default Txt Msgs - Once read still displayed on menu

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

When I have a missed call the call log on the front page displays the Name and Time. Once I have view the missed call it disappears from the front menu.

This is also the same when I receive an email. It states the number of unread emails and then give a small preview of the most recent one - ie sender.

This is what I would expect from the text message function. ie. when I receive a new text message it states 1 new message on the front menu with a note of who its from. Once you read it then it disappears from the front menu but still remains in your inbox.

The problem I'm having is that once I read the text message it remains - even if I delete the message its still showing on the front menu system. When I receive a new message it shows the new message and again if I view it and then delete it (I don't tend to keep my messages) it still shows up on the front menu system.

The only way I can get rid of it is if I take out the battery and then put it back in. Can someone tell me if this is standard for a BB or if I have a problem as its rather annoying me...........

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

i have THE SAME problem!!! but i have a solution that doesnt involve having to take the battery out and replace it. thats a pain! and wastes time waiting for the BB to boot back up!

here's my solution until this bug is fixed (i never had this til recently!):
1. go into messages
2. scroll to and highlight the heading for the current day, eg. "Tue, Nov 7, 2006"
3. click the menu button
4. select "mark prior opened"
5. go back to the home screen and rejoice!

i dont know why this bug just came out of nowhere almost a month into me using the device, but it did. i hope it gets fixed soon. and now that i think of it, i think it came about around when i upgraded to the O2 os.... hmmmmm......

Damn O2 upgrade - almost wish I hadn't upgraded now. Anyway, I'll try your suggested fix srotman and hopefully that'll work - until an update amends the work of the last update!!

You can downgrade to any version you want to. Just uninstall the O2 from your PC. Install a different version. Then run App Loader in Desktop Manager and it will ask you if you want to downgrade.

the 'mark prior opened/ fix doesn't seem to fix the problem - does anyone have any idea how to resolve the issue regarding displaying text messages without downgrading the OS from version 64 because I prefer this to the original as the call lag bug seems fixed with the upgrade.......

Default Txt Msg Problem / Issue?? Display on Main Menu

The easiest way for me to describe this problem / issue is to start at the end with the only solution I have found.

I removed the battery and sim card and then put back in. Once I turn on my Pearl again the main menu / front page is fine.

However, as soon as I receive a text message it is displayed under the text message header on the front page as un-read. This is fine as it alerts me to its un-read status. Once I have read the message though I head back to the main menu and the message is still displayed (first line or so) - no longer un-read - but still displayed.

I then receive more text messages but they are NOT displayed - it seems that the first message 'stays on top' so to speak.

The only way to wipe this is to turn off my pearl, remove battery and sim card and then put back in again. We are now back at the start.

Does anyone else have this problem and / or any solutions for fixing it?

My network is Vodafone UK and I'm running on the most recent Cingular .69 update. I had this problem however on .64 as well. Basically since I upgrade from .42 I think this problem has been evident.

My solution was going to be, download the current OS...but looks like you have done that already! It might just be a faulty device...seems like you have taken all the proper steps that I would have done! Might wanna contact your carrier.

check your text message settings options>SMS and turn the "number of previous items" down to 0 and see if that helps. probably not but its worth a shot.

Default Same problem

I have the same problem! For some reason it only happens texts. I have TMobile service and the latest upgrade as well. The only solution i've had for it so far, is to remove the battery and put it back in. It's as if its caching some text's somewhere in the memory temporarily, but i cant find where. i cleared out the inbox, sent folders for email and for sms as well. but nothing. let me know if you find anything else.

thanks,

-doug

Doug,

its almost good to know that someone has the same problem as me!! I've found that the only way to stop it is to remove the battery and as suggested have turned number of previous items down to 0 - doesn't have much effect!

I have found that with the latest OS (.71) the first few messages don't stay on the front menu but it happens pretty soon after!!

Really frustrating but if I find a cure I'll be sure to post - message me if you do also!! - or anyone else for that matter

I don't know whether this helps.....but

I have the same problem, and it only started happening when I installed mobireader. Before that, I never saw this bug, but now all of a sudden it is there!

Anyone else experience this problem, without having some sort of ebook reader installed?

Thanks
Leon

I have the same issue. Tmo OS .42. It happens with any theme that displays text message notifications on the main screen(i.e. today plus, phantom). I have to remove the battery to get them off, but it happens again soon after. Im sure all the pearls have this issue but maybe some dont notice it if they are using a theme that doesnt show text message notifications on the main screen, like the Zen theme.

I don't want to change to the Zen theme though! I've update to the latest OS and found that after a battery pull I can receive a few msgs (2 or 3) before one will 'stick' to the main menu. still very annoying although doesn't appear to be very common!
