I sync my contacts to my computer.

I just do it with bluetooth connect on a mac. It saves them in contact book on my macbook.

you can sync your Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks, to Microsoft Outlook using the BB Desktop Manager.

i believe you can sync your contacts to Outlook Express also, if you dont have Outlook.

using the USB cable of course.

you can also do a backup of your data, using Desktop Manager, just plug in the phone, and do a backup. this will save all of your info, including contacts and settings and such.

Is your Sim Card inserted properly and locked? Also, is your media card inserted properly as well?

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.1.7196/1662; en; U; ssr))

If you sync to outlook express then the info will save there. If you are doing a backup with desktop manager it will save the backup file to the location you specify. So if you tell it to save to the desktop that's where it will go. These files are only useful for doing a restore of your BB. If you want to get the info onto a regular phone I don't think the backup will help.

I'm not sure what you're asking about the keypad.

As far as uploading the contacts to another SIM card, as long as the phone is still working, you should be able to put a valid SIM card into it and copy the address book up to the card.

The Desktop Manager program is only going to provide you with the ability to make backups that will help you restore your Pearl should it ever lose its data, or if you lose/destroy a Pearl and replace it with another one.

If you want the flexibility to export your contacts to another phone without relying on a SIM card export, I would suggest getting a free program like Outlook Express and sync your contacts there.
