Next move for 8310 user - Jav or Bold?
Please Login to Remove!
I am starting to get itchy (as we all are) for the next phone. The Bold is getting all the hype but Javelin seems to have a lot of great features too. Can we start a discussion on Bold versus Javelin as the next move for an 8310 user?
Seems like Javelin has a better resolution
Javelin runs EDGE or GSM
Bold has 3G
Javelin is smaller than Bold
Javelin has higher mega pixel camera
Seems to me the Javelin is the better choice. Especially since TMO (my carrier) is so slow to roll out 3G. Did I miss something major?

Only downsides I see are no 3G and the wait for the release.

No 3G isn't really a downside to me. It would be off the vast majority of the time anyhow as I'm more concerned with battery life. Sure the option would be nice, but the strengths of this phone definitely overcome the lack of it. Especially when you have to go to something the size of the Bold to get 3G at the moment.

It's sorta G3 vs. G2.5...
Size matters plenty so Javelin is my choice although I have to wait longer.

From what I'm reading the Javelin is by far the better choice for someone from the Curve. 3g is having issues all over the place and if you like the Curve you should love the Javelin. Now if you are into the more busniesslike side of things and really want that 3g then obviously your Bold is you winner. I personally have had a Curve for 4 months now and if I were to upgrade it would be the Javelin. Of course I am not looking to upgrade since I love my Curve. lol

I'd get the Javelin if I were you. If you don't live in a major metro area then 3G would be useless. You would also have to wait for the possibility of T-Mobile getting the Bold which is currently at "maybe" status.

ok call me diputs when it comes to Javelin, EDGE, GSM and 3G and everything else that comes with the newer phones now days. I know what EDGE and GSM are but dont understand them. I know that 3G is better, so is my phone able to have 3G or will this be a software upgrade or hardware (ie new phone) to be able to have 3G.
diputs = stupid (backwords)

Stupid is as stupid does!
For a phone or device to work on the 3G (3rd Generation of wireless technology) network, it must have a hardware compatible 3G radio installed. So no software update for the current line up of Curves.
And, the only stupid question is one that is not asked.

yup, bold in hand, giving me a good taste of the features i will enjoy in my new javelin, as soon as it is out..
reminds me of when the 8800 came out shortly followed by the curve.. 8800 was great, but the curve was way better, imho.

Former 8310 user, and I moved on to a Bold while I wait to see how the Javelin turns out. One problem, I don't think I am going to be picking up a Javelin now that I have tasted the Bold life.
Had I been on TMobile, I would be holding out until the Javelin is released.
