Default Release 1.3 of Google Maps Mobile 8700 issue?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been using Google Maps on my 7100 since it was released earlier this year and have never had any problems. I just downloaded it this morning to my girlfriend's 8700g and apparently it's a new version of the software (1.3) with additional features. Unfortunately, it seems to be really SLOOOOOOOW and sometimes it just kind of hangs.

Anyone else download the updated GMM to their 8700? What were your experiences? Should I delete the app and try downloading again?

Don't have an 8700, but here's my story: I downloaded the new version of Google Maps yesterday and it worked just as well as ever. Today, I can't seem to get it to load anything. It just says "0 kb. Loading." I uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled and still have the same issue.

My unscientific conclusion: I think that it may be a problem on the Google end, and probably not with the installed software. Hopefully, it's just today's problem and not a long-term one.

Works fine on my 8700c. Downloads traffic info nicely as well. Don't think it is a problem with Google!

Mine started working again this afternoon. I blame network hiccups.

I'm not very happy with the new 1.3 on my 8700c. Does anyone know how I can re-install 1.2.3?

Anyone know how to deploy this via BES? I can't seem to get it to go: http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-...tion-push.html

I'm considering making the switch from Nextel (yes NEXTEL not sprint) to Cingular and one of my biggest concerns is navigation/mapping. I currently have the i870 with Telenav GPS navigation and it is near flawless. My question is, how similar are these two programs (Google Maps)? I'm assuming the 8700 for Cingular doesn't have GPS like Nextel, but will it allow me to easily input addresses into the 8700 and it will still turn me in the right direction? Any info/similarities would be fantastic!!

I have the new Google Maps on my 8700g and I'm on T-Mobile. It works flawless for me. But since you said you are on Nextel and I have seen the GPS on it, it's better than Google Maps because it's GPS, Google just helps you mapping. But since I know almost every corner in Houston, I don't need a turn-to-turn navigation. I just need to know what area the place is located at and with the directions from Google Maps, I can figure out how to get there and what is the best route. Hope this help.

I can't compare them but Google Maps is great. Yesterday was the only day it gave me bad directions. Since I already knew the way, I just ignored it. (I was testing the new traffic feature in DC.)
