Default 9800 trackpad issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I recently had an issue with my trackpad and it basically doesnt work anymore at all... I watched a few videos on this issue on how to replace it but my question is, is there a way to fix this or is replacing the trackpad my only solution? Thanks

What issue did you have? Get it wet perhaps?

Ditto on the above. If you got the BlackBerry wet, you really have a whole other issue. Also, just a little mositure getting inside the BlackBerry can cause issues without killing the BlackBerry straight away.

If the cause of the trackpad problem isn't moisture, your best move may be replacing the trackpad; but if it was a drop that led to the trackpad issue, you very well may find replacing the trackpad isn't the fix.

Thats kinda what i was thinking might of happened.. I was in FL and i think it happened by the pool... I might of had some moisture on my hands and touched the track pad...

Can't clean damaged electronics. My guess is you need a new device. Even if you fix it, you will probably run into additional problems later.

Odds are what Dubdub says is true--The device is damaged now. Won't hurt to remove the battery and dry the device well. Rice is cheap. See blackberryfaq.com and scroll down to the article on what do do if you get you BlackBerry wet. Probably too late, but won't hurt anything to try. Opening up the device to look or to try and dry it better risks breaking something additional.

You could also try replacing the trackpad if you have the time and money and want to take the risk. But only after you make sure the device is dry. But just to be clear, if you didn get water in the device it is probably too late now.

I gotcha... I ordered a new trackpad and am going to replace that and see what happens.. Everything else is working like normal on the phone just not the trackpad... I found replacement videos on Youtube so we will see how this goes.

Well im still waiting on the T3 screwdriver to come in but my trackpad started working again last night... Then it went out today so i slide the phone up to show the keyboard and all and held up a hair dryer to it and after a few mins i regained full trackpad capabilities. So i think im good to go.. No other issues with the phone currently.
