Default How do I remove the password "lock"?

Please Login to Remove!

I use my BB for work and my IT department requires that it have a password and the option is "locked out", meaning that I MUST have a password on the device at all times. The option can't be removed. It's evidenced by the little red lock symbol next to the option.

Well, I am selling the BB now and have wiped the device. Problem is that that it STILL requires a password. How do I wipe that option off?

Since it was on a BES, that IT Policy will forever be present on the device as long as it is connected to that BES.

So, one, make sure it is removed from the BES, and then you can push a blank IT Policy to the device: Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

Just keep in mind that violating company policy may get you warning or termination from your job.

Welcome to BB Forums.
A couple of points:
- please do not post new questions in the middle of an existing thread
- Links to the latest supported version of the OSs are located at the top of each specific forum
- there is no 4.3 for the 8800

It has been said (I haven't tried this, is why I word it like that) that upgrading to OS 4.5 and then wiping the OS using Javaloader and reloading (either 4.5 again or something else) gets rid of the IT policy.

Perhaps someone can confirm/deny.

Confirmed.

With OS 4.3 and above, you can use the 'resettofactory' switch with Javaloader to remove the IT Policy from the device.
