That's pretty soon for a device that was just "leaked" less than a month ago. RIM should push it back to create a little more hype, in my opinion (but then all you guys would whine and moan ).

I'm guessing that the Sept 12 date is for pre-orders for EXISTING custi's and the Sept 18th will be for everyone.

That would be great! I hope they offer a deal to existing customers too.

Has that ever happened? Historically, existing customers always get the shaft.

Historically, this has happened back in 2003/4 wich the SKII devices ppl getting sent by email - a select few that NEVER miss their bills, an pay up in full before its due - but I cannot say for the RIM devices.

Either way September 12/16/18/26 is STILL pretty quick considering it wasnt long ago when Boy Genius started leaking photos; but seriously a long wait to those of us desperate and counting back in Feb or sooner when Boy Genius "Told Us So" that this device was coming.

PS. Boy Genius, I just gotta thank you on letting know about the 8100 in advance. I'm really hoping that the photos can compare to that of the SE w810/k750 (although those are 2MP devices) in terms of clarity/quality.

The pre-production unit camera was horrible, after seeing the retail version you will definitely be happy with the camera and video player, video player looks really good...

Just left a T-Mob store and the lady there didn't tell me to stop back in on the 12th and she didn't say she would hold one for me

She really didn't know the price but who cares, it's been 2 years as far as I'm concerned since BB really came out with anything revolutionary (7100t, which I still own and have been patiently waiting with)

I don't think the reps are lying or misleading - they're generally clueless. I mentioned to a T-Mobile rep that I was eager to lay my hands on the new Blackberry, the 8100, and his expression said it all: "huh?whatisthisguytalkingabout?" Either he's getting an Oscar for excellence in acting (which I doubt) or he just doesn't know. Personally, I don't think many of these store reps really care like we forum posters do. They sell whatever the store stocks. A few of them will pay attention to upcoming promotions but many more simply hawk whatever is in stock.

My local store happens to be an exception. 3 very knowledgeable reps, all just about as nuts about phones as I am.

It's great when you find a place with a staff as passionate about their product as you are. There's a little wireless shop in NYC like that. But the bigger T-Mobile shops in NYC and northern New Jersey are lucky if one of the reps has a clue out of the whole bunch. That's been my experience anyway.

I went to a local tmo store and asked the rep did they have any new blacberries. He asked what I had. I showed him my 8700g and he said that is the latest but a really nice blackberry is coming out in september.

I stopped by my local TMo store yesterday and the rep told me the 18th for a release date. He acted like he wanted to tell me more but I think the manager was in the store. I also noticed T-Mobile is clearing out their online stock of the 7230 and 7100t. Must be making room for the new toys!

Default They are in the safe

Called two local stores I have been working with, The first large store within the mall said " they are under strict orders from RIM not to show it to any one, it is in a safe" he also said as a 8700 user said he "loves the pearl", im on his call back list when I can put my hands on it.

Called second store and he said as a result of him being a smaller corp store they havent recieved their's yet.
