I really, really hope there's a QWERTY version of this. I'll be all over that in a second. A RAZR-thin, camera-enabled, MP3-playing QWERTY BlackBerry...I need a towel...

I was about to upgrade my 7290 for the 8700. I'm glad I didn't. I just hope TMo offers existing customers a special offer or something.

I think the reason for the suretype device is because it's "consumer oriented" meaning they want to put out the smallest device posssible. RIM wants new customers. Most non-crackberry addicts think the berry is to big. The suretype 7100 series got some more customers, now include a camera amd mp3 player and you have what the average consumer wants - in a SMALL package. I'm sure they will make a qwerty version but to have a usable keyboard it will take away from the small "razorlike" size so I'm not waiting as I think it may be awhile. I"ll still have my 'g' if the suretype gets unbearable.

my first berry is the 8700c, i love the qwerty, i never used suretype. but i know for sure i love qwerty. maybe if they came out with a bb the size of the moto q, im all over it. windows mobile is terrible. they NEED the 8100 with a qwerty, and everybody and their mom will be all over it.

Of course they will make a new blackberry with qwerty, you know how much money they could make if they did. I would get the 8100 in Sept and the new qwerty when it comes out.

I am on the 8700g and will hate to give up my QWERTY; so I am going to buy it for the wife and "test drive" it for a week or two.

Suretype model. The small size is the reason I carry a 7130 over a pancake. I can live with hitting a few extra keys in trade for a smaller size.

I'd wait for full qwerty. With the need to bring something to the consumer market RIM had to go with with SureType but, if like me, you read and compose a lot of long emails on your BlackBerry, SureType is a total nightmare. I would expect to see a MicroSD slot on a full qwerty version of the 8100, but I'd be surprised if RIM put a camera on it.

I'm all over the Pearl the second I can get my grubby little mitts on one. And I'll trade up to the QWERTY version if and when it comes out. I think the initial level of success of the 8100 will determine whether or not they make a QWERTY version. Don't forget, it's aimed at the consumer/non-corporate user so I doubt it's designed with sending 50 - 100 emails a day in mind.

I'm definitely getting the 8100. I need to upgrade from my 7100t and this is exactly what I have been looking for.

Keyboard style isn't a huge factor for me. I would jump on the 8100 for the other nifty features.
