Hope I'm not treading on shaky ground here but was shocked when I read on BlackBerrycool's website that "Rim knows who Boy Genius is." They claim they have the straight word coming from an inside source who they called "Mr. Snap." And that RIM is ok with it - for now.
Needless to say, BlackBerrycool did not name names.
I'm sure they know who I am, I am positive in fact. There has been no contact from RIM to me ever. Every scoop I get is leaked without the permission of RIM and is told to me under the strictest confidence. If RIM does want to get intouch with me they are more than welcome to...
in most cases 99% manufactures DO NOT like this type of hype. But i think between the timing and the device it has played out to be a great benefit for the company. If this phone wasnt coming out till December and info leaked now i would assure you BoyG would have all kinds of lawsuites or atleast they would try...
To say the least RIM would be out of thier mind to not appreciate such hype for this device. I already know 5 family freinds of mine who will go out and buy 1 of these bad boys. I will purchase 10 of them for employees and girls just to have to keep in touch ;)
I think it depends on whether the leaked product is something you want. For instance some have said they'll pass on pearl and wait for a full qwerty version. Most of these people have a 8700 which is the latest qwerty version. Many who perfer 7100 series suretype type blackberies are salivating at this device, especially tmo customers waiting for 7130. So it seems that crackberry additcts want the latest and greatest but what fits their needs.
