Default Plazmic 4.7 Theme Issues for the 8900

Please Login to Remove!

I have noticed that any 4.7 today theme for the 8900 that I have developed or have downloaded from somebody else causes the 8900 to stick on the T-Mobile start up screen after installing any new program. Basically I have to:

1) Install new program (e.g. Facebook 1.5)
2) Reboot
3) Delete theme using Desktop Manager
4) Reboot
5) Reinstall theme using Desktop Manager
6) Reboot
7) Everything groovy!

I know 4.7 is beta. Is this one of the reasons or am I missing something else?

Same here. I did it twice so far and stopped after 3). I might give it a try and continue with 4), but this is certainly not the way it should be. Interestingly, practically no one else seems to have this problem. It might be specific to T-Mobile branded 8900s (mine is, although I am on Vodafone).

This has been reported by others who have developed other beta themes for the 8900. I don't know whether they have used 4.7 or 4.6. Some people have changed their theme back to the stock theme before they reboot and don't have to use DM to delete it. Then they switch back to the beta theme. I want to know when people think they can develop free themes for the 8900 that don't have this glitch. I see some are for sale but haven't bit on them yet. What's it gonna take now that the 8900 uses the 4.6 OS version?

I have the same problem but I've found that if I change my theme to the standard T-Mobile theme before rebooting, all goes well. After it reboots, I can change to the Today Theme I prefer.

Just trying deleting Cache in Browser before the reboot (I mean everything in it, Content, Pushed & Cookie).

It worked for me. Never had any problems like you guys are having.

Why would the browser cache have anything to do with this?

Has anyone tried a theme with the version of Plazmic that was released today?

I have the same problem (well, I did past through the initial screen, but then it got Java error and I lost some icons, (like message, Profile, etc). Rebooting with default bb profile recover those errors, but then I have problems with my enterprise activation afterwards. This happen to the 50x50 hidden dock I downloaded previously. However, since then, I have also downloaded Zulu hidden dock, and I never had that problem with Zulu.
Just heard the official 4.7 plazmic is released though...

The only problem that I ever had with the beta builder is the java error with the missing icons, and switching to the stock theme and rebooting would fix it. Then I could go back to my custom ones...

If anyone has these issues with any of my themes lemme know and I'll get it sorted out for you. I have re-exported my bDroid themes with the official builder just to make sure the purchases have the newest version. And the older purchases if any of you have done so I am emailing..

yes, same problem with me.
you have to switch to stock theme before you rebbot your device.
everything will back to normal. switch theme to stock theme and rebooting.
so far as i know, its because of plazmic theme developer, that been use by developer not a final version.

Yes, it still happens.
BTW, I have a more serious problem.. not sure if you guys experience that as well.
Everytime that it hang after boot-up, I lost sync with BES. The enterprise activation stuck at "initializing desktop sofware"... I have to stop, and request a new activation password from my IT, so it is not good if I ask for it a few times in a week :( Anyone of you had that same problem, if you are on BES?

it goes the same way even with this problem! you just have to switch to an original pre installed theme before you reboot everytime!

The problem is still there. However you can do this when it freezes on the carrier's screen: hold down the red end call button which will shut the phone down. Press it again to start the phone up. It shouldn't hang this time. Switch back to the OEM theme. Then you can battery pull. Then you can restore the "bad" theme. I personally just make sure the "good" theme is running whenever I reboot the phone, or even when I turn it off. Another rumor is that this ONLY happens IF you have unread messages on your phone. I can't verify that because I'm too much of a wimp to try and see and have my phone freeze when I know how to avoid it. I think the problem build into the Plazmic theme builder made by RIM.

I finally had my phone freeze on the carrier screen and it was with the official theme builder theme export...I removed my memory card and rebooted and it rebooted for me with java errors. So I went to the stock theme, rebooted, and then everything was good to go

New to this forum, first post but i can verify that unread messages IS the problem with the Plazmic themes. If you make sure all your messages are read you will not have any problems with rebooting with Plazmic themes.
