Is there a way to put pictures and ringtones on your blackberry w/o paying for third party software to do it?

Also, is there any freeware out there for the 8700c?

Hi! Welcome to BlackBerry Forums.

There is a dedicated Ringtones, Themes and Wallpapers forum which has TONS of information in it.

There are also many "Killer Application" threads which you can search for..

You are right ... MP3's can't be opened in the BB.
Here's the way I get MP3's to my phone.

Upload the MP3 here
and make note of the provided Identification number.

Goto this website on your BB -- http://wap.coolservice.dk
and enter the provided Identification number.

The MP3 file will play on your Blackberry, click the Trackwheel to Save the file.

Hope this helps

The best way and very simple.

Go to google and search for audacity and download the proper ver. for your current OS. You can import any mp3, I usually give it about 20 secounds.
Once it is saved you can use bluetooth to send to your BB.

You can let me know what ringer tones you want and I'll put them on my website. I have tones on them. Check it out. These tones are all MP3's so if you have a 8700 you should be fine.

I wouldn't think so. Since RIM prodes theirself on security, they wouldn't allow bluetooth to do file transfering which it one of the most unsecure ways to transfer files.

Oh you very much can. What you need also is the LAME MP3 encoder from the same site i listed above. When you record the 20 sec of mp3's you will send via BT it will actually go to your addr. book, as this is the only support via BB. You can pull it from your Addr. book.

Oh.
Well, that's, uh, interesting. The MP3 file is transferred to your Address Book.
OK.

Please explain in detail the Bluetooth settings and the detail steps you perform to accomplish, once you've created and saved the MP3 to your PC. I know how to use Audicity and the LAME dll, so you can ignore that portion. The more important steps are the transfer via bluetooth.

Thanks for your help.

Default option #2

..or you can just do a search for ringtones on and there is a therad available with over 10 links to websites you can go to from your BB and download:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=5662

http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=39970

Check these two threads out

Unless you can unleash the power of the bluetooth and beam the tones thru to berry411, save it to your berrymessenger, then file it in ringtones while drinking your morning coffee

Question Still trying to download ringtone

Hi Garran, Your instructions have gotten me closest to actually getting a ringtone on my BB 8700c. I am very new to the BB - ringtones on the RAZR are a "piece of cake". I sent a txt message from - Devil Wears Prada Movie website titled "DEVIL" from the mobile tab- I followed the directions and received a WAP Push Alert on my BB. I followedt he links and the tone played on my BB. I can't figure out how to apply it as a ringtone?? I have followed your directions, gone to the website you specified, etc... did receive an id number but no luck. Can you HELP? I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me - I know if I do it once I will be fine. Thanks in advance for assiting this newbie. Thank you, Mara
