Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

My Black Berry environment is:

BAS server 1
BAS Server 2

I want to install Antivirus Software, Mcaffee, here and wanted to know the best practices for setting it up. What files shall i put in exceptions?

What precautions shall i take?

Please help.

Best Regards,
Amir.

thanx knottyrope,

1 quick question.

I post my questions in both these forums hoping there would be different approaches by different people as these are separate forums.

Are these two forums being run by same guys?

if yes then whats the point having two forums?

and shall i post my questions in both forums or one?

thanx

This is a private forum.
The other is hosted by RIM

I monitor 3 forums, some people monitor even more. BESAdmins are a small group compared to millions of end users of devices.

Corss posting might seem good, but if I answered it well one one, why waste the others time answering it here as well if it is the same answer?

If you got a correct answer from one, then post in the others explaining that you did so it wont waste the time of others.

I would choose one forum and if no answer after 48 hours, shoose a second forum and post a link to the original forum you asked the question in.

as per your link there is this sentence,

crossposting to groups that are irrelevant to the message posted could be considered spamming

I dont know why you gave that link from wikipedia.

my questions are relevant and the solutions to them are useful for the members of both the forums. I dont think i'm doing anything wrong.

To be precise, you are not cross-posting but multi-posting (copying the same question to multiple different forums). There is no way for someone to know that your question is also posted in another forum.

Cross-posting would be if you see in the headers of your post, to which forums or news groups your question has been posted (similar to the cc field in an e-mail).

Imagine, I am reading your question and I am going to answer it. It takes me ten minutes (do some research, formulate the answer etc.). In the meantime, someone in another forum has already answered your question.

Because you are happy and you got your answer, you will never read my post. I have wasted my time for nothing.

Because you are doing a lot of multi-posting, I am not going to answer your questions anymore. Your net reputation may go down because of multi-posting.

I would take knotty's advice and only post to one forum. If you don't get any answer within reasonable time, you can still ask in another forum.

You didn't read freakinvibe correctly. You took the wrong meaning from his advice.
