Default 7130 mp3 Ringtones Made Easy!

Please Login to Remove!

Ok...there are a ton of posts around here regarding ringtones. For some reason I can not get adp ringtones to work for Verizon's 7130e...something about the browser not supporting file types adp. SO...here's what I have for you guys. The 7130 supports mp3 ringtones, so here's the easiest way to get them on your phone without messing with editors, mime types, etc.

1. Go to allofmp3.com
2. Find the song you want
3. Select the song
4. Click download sample
5. Upload to your server
6. Load up your BB browser to the mp3 file
7. Scroll Click and Save
8. DONE!

NOTES:
1. The BB Browser is case sensitive. It is best to rename your mp3 file to something easy to minimize mistakes. Better yet, just email yourself the link.

2. Don't try to use the link from allofmp3.com in your BB Browser. The link will attempt to stream the mp3 file...which we know won't work.

3. If you are having trouble downloading the mp3 file, make sure you have "Support Embedded Media" enabled in Browser Configuration. I also have "Support JavaScript" enabled, although I am not 100% sure that is necessary. If you're still having problems, try changing Emulation Mode to Microsoft IE.

Hope this helps.

Ominx.

I tried to do this and it did not work.
I think I followed the directions.
I first downloaded the .mp3 sample.
I then uploaded it to my server.
I then tried going directly to the file in the BB browser.

However, I get an error: Application can not accept the content [audio-x-mpeg]

And this is after changing options to support Embedded Media and Javascript.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I also couldn't get the adp files to work. I can only get midi files.

Thanks!

Well...even though I said you shouldn't have to mess with mime types, I assumed most servers were setup for mp3 files. You should have audio/mpeg for your mime type and mpga mp2 mp3 for the extension. Then you should be good to go.

That used to work, however Walmart has since changed the way you can download and listen to the preview files. They are no longer in the mp3 format, they are now a windows media streaming asf/wsx file. Also, they now require Internet Explorer utilizing a type of javascript and activex control...changing the Emulation Mode to Microsoft IE doesn't work.

Right now, the method I described above is still one of the best ways to get mp3 ringtones on you 7130.

Maybe you should try it again ;) I have used it all weekend, involves no saving and reuploading onto another server, and yes, they are mp3 files.

Ok I see where the confusion was...you need to make sure you are in the "CD Store" not "Music Downloads".

I am not sure exactly what you need for a "Blackberry apps server", but if you just need online storage you can use a service similar to savefile.com. If you need a real hosted web server, I recommend bluehost.com. They are cheap, reliable and offer some great features others charge extra for.

lol guys mimi extensisions are basic web hosting. if you do not understand this you should not try to host your own ringtones. what works the best honestly, is your isp! if you have a cable modem or dsl they give you webspace too. 10 mb only but enough. its super fast and doesnt cost you any extra cash. so get to the uploading!

Yea that's sometimes a problem I get too. What I do is add 1 second to the beginning of the file and it works perfectly. I use Audacity to accomplish this. It's a free opensource audio editor that works great. Here's the link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

As was stated above - this is probably a MIME configuration issue (i.e. the server yr using ios not configured to allow mp3. Can u download the mp3 via your desktop browser?

Important fact concerning the 8700 and the 7130 : depending on the carrier, the device may or may not allow access to different audio codecs. The 7130 supports mp3 but some carrier (ok - one i know of) has disabled this in the firmware. One version of the 8700 that i know of actually supports mpeg audio (mp3), AMR, ADPCM, and WAV .

I have gone to Walmart and got some ring tones but sometimes they will not play. Anybody got an idea why? They may work fine for a day or two and then none will play, even if I have them set as my ringtone in the phone. The regular tones will still play but not the walmart ones.

I'm also having the problem with Walmart ringtones. They work flawlessly at first, but then quit playing after a day or so. Any ideas why?
