Re: wipe BB device
So the issue here seems to be a matter of terminology. On a BlackBerry a "wipe" is a Fips 2 complient secure memory wipe of all user data stored on the phone. The applications you refer to probably (I'm 99% sure) don't do that. The best and most honest explaination is from BuddyGuard:
Wipe your BlackBerry® remotely to prevent access to your personal data. Removes Calendar, Contacts, Emails, Phone Logs, Memos, Tasks and files on your SD Card and in Device Memory.
What they do is, using the published APIs, get access to and delete all records in those data stores, and all files on the indicated file systems. I would not consider this to be a "wipe" in the sense that a BES or BlackBerry Protect are able to wipe the device. But if that is what you want to do it should be a relatively straight forward, if very tedious, process.
