you will only be prompted to upgrade to 2.3 if you were on 1.8, I read it on BB's website here: BlackBerry Search Results

Does this mean I can cancel my BES with cingular and switch to BIS and also save the wireless extra charge wirh mailstreet.com? If so 20 bucks savings per month and less hassle.

This doesn't seem to be working yet for me either. I deleted a few recent emails (all from this morning) from my server but they all remained on my BB.

Not if you want true two way sync and folder moves. I love that on my BES and you won't get that here.

It still just shows it at the top of the page. That is the only reference to 2.3.

I have not accepted by clicking "yes" as I am still on 1.8 and do not want to upgrade if this is still only 2.0.

If someone gets upgraded and sees a true difference let us know. Maybe I cannot upgrade to 2.3 until I go thru 2.0 but I doubt that.

I think the page is just not completed yet and they accidentally listed the 2.3 line at the top.

have a look at the URL I posted just above, it is from BB and shows you how to tell if it is 2.0/2.3 etc. Hope that helps you decide.

I missed that- I was out at soccer and t-ball all morning and I am just checking in. I appreciate that as it clears things up- The sign in page for Cingular/ATT is for 2.3 according to the info on your link but when you go in it still refers to 2.0 everywhere except at the top.

I am concerned about "switching" until I am sure because 2.0 will not work for me and you cannot go back.

Thanks though- great info. It sure looks like 2.3.

I bit the bullet and went for it- cannot tell yet as I am still setting up e-mail and taking out all my Gmail setup.

If anyone with Cingular has success with 2.3 let me know.

I'm on Cingular with 8100. I have my yahoo account syncing no problem. If I read the new email on the BB, the email is automatically marked read from mail.yahoo.com. When I delete it from the website, it deletes from the BB. Doesn't work that way for the gmail account though.

I can also finally play wav attachments... but I still do not have the "Email Settings" under Messages / Options - for the read receipts. Sent my SB's 7x, and rebooted 3x

Looks like it now supports Calendar sync, too? I'm too lazy to read up on what's new and not new, as I don't really use BIS too much, but I'm glad to see them making an effort. Who's ready for BIS 3.0?

...just teasing.

Thanks, my setup was so messy with my gmail workaround that I am having a hard time sorting it out. Gotta get out of the office and deal with this later before I get divorced. Too nice outside- time to get in the pool . I'll deal with it later but I appreciate the help and look forward to getting it all set up myself.

FWIW, John from Philly, this is definitely 2.3 -- all 2.3 advertised features are working on my Cingular 8800 precisely as advertised.

I have an 8300 on tmobile. I have done extensive testing and can confirm that with the 2.3 BIS service books my Caendar reminders do not work. I delete the books reboot and the reminders work fine. As soon as I push the book again from tmobile.com the reminders stop working again. I am able to replicate this after I wiped the unit and used BIS only no BES.

Im not liking 2.3 at all.

To suggest that 2.3 is at fault is hardly appropriate, don't you think? You're using a handheld that your carrier not only doesn't carry, but also doesn't support...it's no wonder that you're seeing a couple of issues. People who purchase phones from other carriers and unlock them are not in the majority, so I'm not surprised that they haven't resolved this yet in "anticipation" of unique users such as yourself.

As to the folks that are having PIN update issues, I too had an issue at first. When I called them and put my new IMEI on the account, it resolved everything pretty nicely.
