how long does the install usually take? i downloaded everything correctly(i think), but now when its trying to install the new software, it has been at the connecting to handheld part for like 15 minutes and the orange bar at the bottom isnt moving. does this sound like there is something wrong? when i have loaded apps before, it went through with everything right away.

Try following my "Internet Browser FAQ" (link via my FAQ in my signature) including the "Send Internet Browsing Service Book" button from your BWC website, as well as the "Options"->"Host Routing Tables"->"Register Now" tricks on BlackBerry.

I don't see anything new either..but I am kinda excited that it might be a HTML browser..Mark, I still show no way of SMS with my NEXTEL 7520, sorry. If someone figured it out let me know! The only way I see around it is still emailing the phone number as per the thread on that.

Default Installed New Software for 7520

ok got it installed, lost my ReqWireless Webviwer, but looks like all my BB Utilities came back. I did lose my location & all my custom stocks on BB Today. No big deal, bigger deal is loseing my spell check sever url that some kind man let me use his personal one, now i don't have it.... all so lost all my bookmarks in req viwer. Did two hard restes with no luck on the NextelHTML Browser, I got the password deal whiich i won't use. I am holding on hope that this software will get ride of the echo issue I have with my Jabra BT800 that I paid 140 bucks for. I will update tomorrow on browser and BT 800 echo. I will also wast an hour or so calling Nextel to rattle their cage about HTML, if they aren't willing to provide a browser to me that they have..........then they should damn well make sure my 3rd party browser get backed up and re-installed. At least if I was running a company I would.

Anyone own stock in RIMM, I am buying some tomorrow, in 5 yrs everyone will have one these babies.

The HTML Browser is a different application. After I upgraded the OS, a new HTML browser (better designed if I may say) icon appeared.

I find it puzzling to hear so many people who upgraded the OS by does not have the HTML browser. Perhaps it's basic; I am assuming two things:

1 - You are on Nextel and have a 7520.
2 - You are also signed onto data services specific to the Blackberry.

How did you find out about this upgrade? Were you notified about it or find it on your own?

Perhaps I am the beta pig here. I find it perplexing to see that no one here has successfully been able to get the HTML browser. I've posted picts up on my blog and will post more picts later.

FYI: The HTML icon is a separate icon from that of the NOL browser.

This issue has prompted me to do a fuller review to be conducted over the weekend. good luck guys....and don't listen to everything Nextel CSR says. It;s better to get the news from a level 3+ tech if you hv the patience to get that far.

I had tried to load the update and went throught he entire process (twice), but after all is said and done I go back to the desktop manager and on the about screen the software version is 4.0.0.30 from Oct. 28, 2004. Have I done something wrong or is there a step I might have missed?

here's an idea... maybe you downloaded something that they didn't mean to release yet or changed shortly after posting... why don't you post/host the file that you downloaded and updated your 7520 with... this might be the answer to our questions... or myth!

BlackBerryOS will take about 20 to 30 minutes for rebooting the handheld. It's normal.

Everyone,

Can you please send a test "text message" (SMS message) from your Nextel 7520 with this upgrade, please? I'd like to know if it this upgrade adds true 2-way SMS texting to the 7520.
