Hahahahaha, just as RIM have escalated this to network ops, lol

(That's me assuming the Bold<-->Bold PIN swap will work for us!)

So it's a network issue and not your BB.

I am assuming it has to be really. I had kinda eliminated as device issue already (tested EZ/daphne on my old 8110, which was wiped and not EA'd - that ruled out physical BB & issue with BES)

It is either the network, or my SIM card (by process of elimination). Am waiting for new SIM from t-mo

It is kind of ridiculous. This is a common problem regardless of providers, models, etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's an odd combination of both... especially with yesterdays sporatic outage, I wouldnt be surprised if it were a combination of both.

Hey jadey, I'm working now, so whenever you want you can try to add/PIN me.

But isn't the problem that it works for some people and not for others?

Yes. I was hoping that Serkle K would not work (no offence hun!) mainly because now EZ has a Bold, I am down to one "cannot add you" test candidate (daphne). She has already had to send me approximately 87million BBM requests, and is probably thinking "I don't want to talk to Jadey any more now"
heh

Apart from fact my Bold has been saying for last 2.5 HOURS that you are typing a message. LOL, I am serious. However, in the loosest possible sense, yes your new BB works with mine

LOL, K.

Still no new SIM from t-mobile (snow messed up postal service apparently) and also just got this email back from RIM Network Ops:

----------------------
We have received feedbacks from our network operations team asking that the below instructions be carried out and then retry adding the contact located in the US to your Smartphone's' BlackBerry Messenger.

1) Please remove the battery and SIM card from the smartphone
2) Replace the battery and SIM back after ten minutes
3) On the smartphone select 'Register Now' from Options->Advanced Options->Host Routing Table
4) Retry replying to the PIN request for adding to BlackBerry Messenger
----------------------

I did tell RIM that I had tried Battery Pulls, ooh, three dozen times or so. None for 10 minutes though, will try that now...

This is a slow path to a fix...

but my GF only has 3 ppl on her BBM contacts list, and only really sends messages between 2 of those 3, and we were in the middle of a conversation, but her status was "Typing a message" for about 5-10 minutes as well.

jadey, I would have loved to have gotten the amount of snow you guys got over there!! Sucks about the SIM card though... you think this issue is some how tied into the random outages? aside from an infastructure issue, device issue (which seemed to have been ruled out) and a network issue, what else could be a contributing factor? The "register now" suggestions, sounds like a good one, so good luck!!

This is the next suggestion from RIM. Will let you know how I get on.

Edit: Up to step 2 and noticed 2 things:
a) Cannot delete ALL the service books, PROVISIONING goes nowhere
b) Device has (after resending service books) EA'd itself. I'll leave the battery pull till that has finished

Edit: Testing completed Status: Fail

SIM card might be the culprit, Our pin exchange worked fine..

Has RIM said anything useful.. I wonder if the pins that are not working are in the same geographical location, maybe a network issue on RIM's side. The people that stay in pending are you able to send normal PIN messages to them, that would eliminate a network issue.
