I win! Right now, mine says "0." For real.

I'm at 0 quite a bit. I'm assuming it's an error in the OS 4.5 beta I'm using. At least, I hope it is.

In fact, even at 0, I was able to download another 135K (the Outbreak Control game from the Blackberry mobile site).

Holy cow, what version of the beta are you using? I haven't had this issue with any of the beta OSs so far, but man I hope it isn't at 0!!! Does it say 0 after a battery pull?

That is no error. You need to free up some memory. A good thread is in my sig.

Wirelessly posted (8310 Curve)

57278654 is my total I sit at 23151420 Bytes usually before a batt pull.
I go to about 25562366 after.
8310 with 4.5.0.52 all I have is one Zen theme. Nav4all, yahoo messenger, Documents to go. Pictures are on a 1gig card.
Figure after reading these posts I should be near the 40xxxxxx or something.
I do still have VAD but I did do the optimize thing.
What makes the other ones come with 95xxxxxx free mem? What is missing on them?

There isn't anything missing per se, just that the 8330 CDMA Curve has more memory from the factory than the rest. 96Mb instead of 64

It HAS to be an error when it says 0 and I can still pile in more. The Outbreak Control was just one such example, but I've tried before and have been able to load on a good deal and it still reads 0.

I've also watched the memory just plain fall. For example, I'll go into status and it'll read, for example, 4M free. If I immediately go back in, it'll read 200K. Using some third party tools that display memory real-time, I've watched it fall, without me doing anything, in a matter of seconds.

I may need to free up some memory, but there is clearly an issue.

Edit: Some additional information.

I followed your instructions for doing a backup of 3rd party apps, with two exceptions: (1) I used DM 4.5 and (2) I allowed it to backup data. The resulting directory was 10.5M.

My regular auto-backups files are around 1M (plus or minus, depending on the day).

What else do I need to do in order to get a snapshot of what's actually on my device. Surely, 11-12M worth of stuff isn't taking me from 47M (what "File Total" reads) all the way down to 0.

I've asked before and I'll ask again: what can I do to see the sizes of EVERYTHING residing on my device?

Default NickfromIL ruined my life! :)

This is just odd. Lately my file free has been increasing throughout the day, and it actually decreases after a battery pull. Here's a bit of a history from today:

12171018 Bytes 0900
12289370 Bytes After Battery Pull
12273946 Bytes 1130
12282826 Bytes 1230
12297174 Bytes 2000
12418278 Bytes 2100
12322998 Bytes After Battery Pull

I don't have any apps running, and the only use the phone got today was text messages, and incoming calls. This isn't normal is it? Any ideas what's going on? Thanks!

Yeah, I don't get it either, as far as I know it's only a recent thing. It hasn't done it today. It went from 12331502 at 2300 yesterday after a battery pull to 12307817 just now.
