Exclamation GPS Tracking Lost Phone

Please Login to Remove!

I need to try and track my BB.
I have lost my curve 8310.
is there anyway to track it?
i am the bes admin for our company and have set a custom it policy to turn on the location based tracking but the entry in the sql isnt showing a location?

is there a way to turn the gps on from the server for a handset?

is there a way to push a gps tracking app to the handset so it will show where it is?

Any suggestions welcome - i'm desperate

I once lost my BlackBerry by accident, and but I had its Bluetooth turned on. My laptop was already paired with it, so I walked all over the place until my laptop detected my BlackBerry. Found!

(Same trick can be done with a Bluetooth headset that you had already previous paired with your BlackBerry. It will automatically connect to the BlackBerry when it finds the lost BlackBerry).

It's not GPS, so I had to walk around until by chance I was near it again and detected its Bluetooth signal!

It might be a lost cause of you didnt already install a tracking program or if someone found it and already wiped it clean. Plus you need somewhat optimal conditions to get a gps signal in order to track it. Any ideas where you left it?

However, if the user didn't have specific lock credentials set - as in BES mandatory lock - and someone knowledgeable can go in and UN-Pair a BT headset or device pretty quickly; again if unlocked. So BT Headset or laptop (paired) mine hunting won't work; well it WILL if its lost in a known vicinity.

IMEI & PIN can be tracked by providers ... but I'm sure you'll need to contact your local police first and they contact the provider ... unless the provider does this on your behalf. I'd start with this first. Secondly KEEP checking to make sure you PIN is registered via BIS - just in case someone is trying to BIS activate it; and another provider is asked to remove it unknowingly of your situation.

Something which wasnt said before, the GPS is what it is: a GPS RECEIVER, it means, it only receives signals, it never submits any signal, it means that you cant use GPS to track a device, since the satelites only broadcast data, they dont receive anything back. In other words: you wont even be able to track it if its only 1 meter away....
for a bether understanding of how GPS receivers work you can follow this link: Howstuffworks "2-D Trilateration"
hope you learned something today

Dog is right, and once the handheld is wiped, your EA is done. The only saving grace you have would be someone honest enought to send it back if you if you programed your information on the desktop screen....
No way to push to a device that is wiped and not setup on EA either...! (ack)

There is really not much you can do. Call your carrier and report it stolen.

The BEST you can hope for would be to call the device yourself and offer the person for its safe return.

Good luck.

Try going to Server Error and registering your phone number/account there. Once you do that, you will be able to view calling history made from your cell phone number. Good luck!

As soon as the SIM card might be changed, that is no good either.

I'm waiting for the guy that actually does have GPS enabled properly with a service like cactus, finds where the thief lives, walks in there, beats the guy w/ a bat, takes his bb back, then posts the vid on youtube ;)

There is new service which allows you to track, locate, retrieve or disable the device, including formatting all the data on the device, even if the device has been turned off. This works with our without the original SIM. It can identify a new mobile number and the battery level to ensure the appropriate action is taken quickly. If you want to know more, email me, as currently this is currently only available to corporate customers. This works with all GPS enabled Blackberry devices, mobile phones, PDA's and laptops.

I have invested in Roblock (Innovative Mobile Softwares For Business and Individuals - The D-Studio DexMobile) and GetItBack (Convenience Software) - about $15 for both. Between the two, I have SMS, email and web control of my phone should it be lost or stolen.
Being able to make the phone call me back at any number, display a message on the screen, get GPS location information, sound an alarm, lock the device and wipe the device - and more - by sending an email or text message - are very powerful and comforting options to have, compared to just plain hope...
