Hello FF2,
Yes, we are considering to make GPSed a commercial application in future. For now things will stay as they are.

Under "settings" > GPS filtering, what is the significance of the options:disabled, low, high? How do they affect the program?

Have you considered providing an opportunity to EDIT the tracks. On more than one occasion I have forgotten to STOP a track after a hike or ski trip and accidently include the AUTOMOBILE drive home. I would like to be able to ERASE/DELETE/Remove that "bad" data from my track. Thanks

This looks like a possible app. for my bike commute. However, I do have a question:
Will it let me plan a route using a past GPS log (not street maps because this would be bike trails) and then provide an estimated time-of-arrival?

Actually, I don't think you need DATA. You can record a Track and then convert it to gpx (a kind of generic format (garmin related, I think) and view that in some other applications.
If you want to display your track in the gps-ed online application, you have to UPLOAD which uses data.

You are not charged for Internet/Data Service when you are writing tracks.
If you would like to transfer tracks to gpsed.com from your BlackBerry, data charge will apply.
Alternatively you can transfer files to PC using Desktop Manager. Then please change the *.txt to *.gpsed. After that login to gpsed.com, select Upload Tracks and upload the files from the PC.

I really like the new interface alot. Roll the trackball hortizontally to change screens. The only observation I will make is that for the sports enthusiasts, some way to find total altitutude gain would be great. Skiers and bikers would love that.

Yup, on the last bike ride I would have liked to compare the odo reading with one from the gps - 3,000 hilly feet. But that's also a ride-readout that really would have benefited from being able to edit the track (a feature I've asked about) - two flat ferry rides falsely inflated the miles so the readout really was off.

Just grabbed the latest BUT what happened to the list of my OLDER tracks. I use to be able to see old tracks and view their properties.
Also, while scrolling to the right, I got an UNcaught java exception.

3 comments on .962 version
1. Cannot seem to store my username/password successfully. Had to continually retype that info whenever I stopped/restarted tracking plus when uploading. Very tedious and frustrating.
2. Track mileage shown is way off (higher) than mileage actually travelled by car.
3. Was unsuccessful in sending track info to gpsed through the menu. Even though it acknowledged that the info was sent, it did not get added to my account. Had to manually upload the file (stored on the media card) when I got back at home.

FF2, you can find your older tracks by following these steps:
If you saved your tracks to the device memory on your BlackBerry go to Applications -> Media -> then press the Menu button -> Select "Explore" -> Device Memory -> Home -> user
or if you saved your tracks to the Memory Card please follow Applications -> Media -> Menu button -> Select "Explore" -> Memory Card -> BlackBerry -> GPSed

Organman,
1. To save your login and password please go to GPSed -> press Menu button -> Settings -> Track's uploading -> Enter your login and password and press Menu -> Save.
2. I would recommend you to use the Filtering option. GPSed -> Settings -> Tracks -> Filtering. The "High" option is preferable. This will make the track mileage show correctly.
3. Please check the version you are using: GPSed -> Menu button -> About. The latest version is 0.962. If it is not the version you have please update at Download GPSed mobile application | Mobile GPS Tracking Service or at wap.gpsed.com

I guess I was not clear - in the prior version of gpsed, I could look over an older track and view its properties. Distance, etc. Using the Media, all I get is its name but none of its GPS properties.

I can't comment on 1 & 3, but I also experienced 2. I think you can select imperial units, but that only changes the actual units name, not what it is calculating in, ie it will say miles, but be measuring in km.

GPSed 0.962
I'm using this on my 8830, using the internal GPS, and, on the whole, I am very impressed by it. I do have a couple of questions though;
I tried to put this on a couple of times during a golf game and for some reason or another the GPS connection drops. Is there some reason why it won't reconnect. Even exiting the software and restarting, then selecting continue track will often fail.
I don't see the 'allow others to see my location' option.
