Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7520/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

I downloaded the upgrade for both the handheld as well as the desktop. Upgrade seemed to go fine. Why does it appear that my software version is 4.0.0.249? It doesn't corrolate with the .319? Did I do something wrong?

NXTL*BRIAN:

Nothing personal, but capitalizing every first letter makes it kind of hard to read your posts. Not as bad as all caps but not as easy as correct capitalization.

Regarding the password keeper, I thought it was always there, you just had to pull up the application loader and enable it.

Default Password Keeper

Yeah that woudl be correct, the Passwood Keeper was available once I downloaded the upgrade, all I had to do was check the box for it to be installed with the update. As far as the capitolizing of each letter was done because when typing the post I do put it in all caps the after I sumbit the post it made each first letter uppercase. I just always usually put everything in caps as like a trademark of mine. However, I'll just use normal capitolization to make my replies easier to read, it's not a problem.

I've read all the messages in the thread so far and am reluctant to do the update since there have been so many questionable experiences so far.

It's going on a week old soon so I'm wondering if overall you'd do it again or if you prefered the original software the 7520 came with.

FWIW, I'll be using my 7520 with a motorola hs850.

Thanks!

I installed the upgrade the day it came out. No problems. I had Password Keeper before the upgrade and still have it now. I had the internet browser before the upgrade and still have it now. I am behind a BES.

I'm still on the fence here but not as negative as I was before. I'd say in your case it depends solely on how your HS850 is performing now. If you have annoying echo and you want to get rid of it then certainly you should upgrade. If you don't have echo and you feel your HS850 is a bit quiet already then you probably shouldn't. I found my incoming and outgoing volume dropped around 10-20% from a level which I already felt was a bit low.

Not everybody has noticed this though so I can't say if it's just my bad luck or if it's an HS850 issue. I think RIM needs to stop trying to solve this echo issue by hardcoding the setting. Just add a base volume adjustment into the Bluetooth options menu and be done with it.
