Default Blackberry Maps - installed but no icon on 9000 bold

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

Looking at my applications list, Blackberry Maps is installed. It is also set as the default maps client.

But there is no icon to launch it! Can anyone offer some advice on how to do so please?

Thanks

Rob

According to the theme you might be using, look in the "applications" folder or the "Instant Messaging" folder.

Also, check that it is not hidden: Mainscreen > Menu > Show all.

Like with all 3rd party apps: Go to "Downloads" and you will find the icon in there.

OK, there is no "Instant Messaging" folder - only "Blackberry Messenger". It is not in there, Applications, Downloads or any other folder. The only place I can see it is if I look at the list of installed applications.

As far as it being 3rd party, I thought BlackBerry Maps would be BlackBerry software no?

I wonder if it is because I have bought it from carphone warehouse and they have preinstalled a trial of a 3rd party, paid for gps map software on there.

I had the same problem on my AT&T 8310. I was able to get the icon by doing an OTA dowload directly from the BB site and installing directly on top of the already installed BB Maps.

The only problem is that if you then install or uninstall any applications via the Desktop Manager, the icon is removed and you will have to redownload to get it back. Did not have this problem doing OTA installs and deleting directly from the BB.

I would re-install the Blackberry software using the Web Updater, this will allow you to check a box to download the Blackberry Maps application, find it here:

http: // na.blackberry.com /eng/services/devices/#tab_tab_upgrade

(without spaces)

I would also speak to your provider and get them to send the Internet Service Book to your handset because without that the program will load up but will not work.

Answer= stinsonddog.com/optimize-your-bb-s-memory
I did the memory Optimization and it is well worth the time. And as far as bbmaps, I made it work, checked it out, then removed it. Google maps and Live search are much better.

Smile Thanks!

Just to be sure; like funkym said, if you're looking for manually installed apps such as Opera mini, Google maps etc. on your Blackberry bold, just go to the "Downloads" folder in the settings screen and you'll find all your "missing icons"!

Thanks for solving this one
