Default Contact sync

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, during a connection to BB desktop my 9900 has taken all the email addresses from my gmail email account and added them to my contacts in my handset address book, this means hundreds of unwanted contact details in my phone, how do i remove these without doing it manually? It takes ages to do each letter of the alphabet! It has got every email address that ever sent an email to me and it's a business email account so just about all need to go

I don't know exactly what you are doing, or what happened. You may need to explain further, and see what others say. But here goes...

The contacts database that you had on the BlackBerry to begin with, before the contacts were added from the gmail account, do you have that duplicated somewhere else, somewhere you can sync with?

Where I'm going is that if you do, delete the address book database on the BlackBerry and then resync again with the BlackBerry. But before you do, figure out how the gmail cotacts were sync'd with the BlackBerry and avoid doing that again.

I may be pointing out the obvious. But as I say, you may need to provide details to get more detailed advice.

Or, your only recourse may be to manually clean up the address book on the BlackBerry.

I believe you configured your GMAIL E-Mail account on your BIS using your Service Provider's Portal (Service Provider's & BlackBerry's joint portal)

when you configure e-mail accounts there you have an option to sync the following: 1) contacts 2) calendar & 3) deleted items

Check in that portal if you have contacts ticked there... that's one way i can presume you managed to sync your gmail contacts to your BB

if that is so... then first uncheck... save the changes to that e-mail account... delete... re-sync with desktop manager back up copy which is known to have limited contacts

well now the only thing i can think of is... manually search your computer for a *.ipd file (previous back-ups)

i am sorry i don't remember the default path as i save all my blackberry backups in a specifically created folder

Also the desktop manager has just uploaded an update which has sent everything a bit off, even the camera doesn't save photos, i can't add email accounts either, the phone has been edging ever closer to the dustbin. I have uploaded the latest OS from here to overwrite the desktop manager device update but still the same, it seems to be a mess at the moment.
