Default OS: 9650 5.0.0.1186/5.0.0.699 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1186 (Multilangauge)

Package Version: 5.0.0.1186
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.699
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.318
* File name: 9650_512AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1186_PL4.2.0.318_A5.0.0.6 99_Sprint_L.P.exe
* File size: 111.87MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9650:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

The OS in the first post of this thread is NOT for the Tour 9630. It's for the Bold 9650

I haven't even found any issues with mine that I'd want to upgrade for.

I'm going to wait for now (but will still download it for 'later').

No, OS's are model specific.

I was comparing versions between Sprint and what came on my VZW 9650. The VZW version is slightly newer. Application is same, but package and platform are different.

When it is posted on vzam.net I'll post again.

** EDIT **

Just checked again and it was posted today.

http://www.vzam.net/blackberry and then fill in the blanks.

The filename is

9650_512cmpttAMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1196_PL4.2.0.321_A5. 0.0.699.exe

So again I ask, what are the changes? My phone has been bullet-proof so far... is there really a need to upgrade?

No you don't.

RIM does not typically provide a change log.
If you are happy with the way your phone is running, then don't bother upgrading. If you notice little things or bugs that are not working as they should then I would upgrade.

Supposed to be a new version (5.0.0.732) pushed today but not on Verizon website yet. (Or I'm looking wrong.)

Rumor is it will be released as a Wireless Update at 6 p.m., a file download off VZW's website will be released later on.

I don't have the OTA option for this version as I am on Sprint. Installed mine with no immediate issues.
