Cool

Thanks for the info, guys! I just downloaded the OS update this afternoon, and I'm going to install it in a little while. Now I know that I can look forward to an updated and improved calculator, amongst other things! Sweet!

This update provides "official" bb messenger support, better date/time support, and a better calculator.....

Thumbs down

Well, I installed it. The updated calculator is really nice. The BB Messenger being installed is nice for those who'll use it. I understand the new OS fixes a glitch here and there.

BUT... It impairs my internet performance and multitasking ability. Now, web pages take noticeably longer to load, and while loading, the majority of the time, I get the spinning hourglass symbol... meaning that 100% of the CPU resources are in use, which prevents me from switching to another program to do something else. And also, when switching from one program to another, I get the hourglass for a few seconds. :(

I'm seriously considering reverting it to the previous version tomorrow.

i noticed my unit was also considerably slow after upgrading also, it kinda forced me to clean off all the stuff i dont use, clear the cache, log files, etc.......especially those MagMic games no matter how addictive....but after that it seemed to go back to regular....

i figure its a phone so i wont beat it up too bad, i save the abuse for my work computer.....

It seems the culprit behind the slowdown and lockups was BB Messenger. I rebooted, and now that it's not running, performance is closer to what it should be. I may go ahead and do a full uninstall of BB Messenger, since I'm not very likely to use it.

Another side effect: BB Millbank Tall and a few other type fonts now look screwed up when in bold, and the antialiasing doesn't fix the problem. This is at font size 9.

And my scroll wheel's acting wonky on the web browser.

Still thinking about reverting to the prior OS version.

I am not having any of these issues at all. My unit seems to me to be faster than ever battery time is better websites load a little faster. I have always had bb messenger and use it on a daily basis.

Well I just tried the upgrade and I my 7520 is dead. The previous time when I upgraded the HH software it got to the point where it was reconnecting to the handheld and finally just timed out. Same thing happened this time so I unplugged the cable and I got the hourglass for 15 or 20 minutes. Instead of waiting any longer I pulled the battery and now I have this weird icon that looks like record, stop, and play buttons with the number 543 underneath. Also the icon has a circle and line through it. This doesn't look good. Guess it's time to call Nextel.

Myine went to that reconnecting thing and stayed there 20 maybe 30 mins and then just as i was about to unplug it bang it started working. I was so tempted to unplug it but I noticed the disclaimer at the top that said do not unplug until done.

As for calling nextel I wouldnt do that just reinstall OS

Agree with Dawgs, reload and wait for the process to complete. It will take long, just let it go.

Another note. They optimized the graphic drivers. The graphics in some of the Magimic games (e.g. Cribbage), the animation of the dealing of the cards is perfectly smooth now ...

Another note part 2. Yes, it takes a long time for it to come back once it reloads; a real long time ...

Hmm when I did mine, it did a backup that was only about 2 seconds long. The file just says "Policy" and "Handheld Agent" in it. Immediately after restoring the phone did an enterprise activation again. I lost everything in my BB Messenger contacts which was annoying, you'd think that the server or the ipd file would back that data up.
