I make a precision, yahoo contacts can write to me and it's works without problems.
This happens for me. I can see MSN contacts and they can see me. They get my messages ok but i do not get theirs unless i logout and log back in again.

I've wiped mine and I'm still getting the uncaught error... I want to go back to version 1.

Where can I download it?

Default yahoo IM is not working for me either

The new Yahoo IM 2.0 does not work on m AT&T curve, even though I still have the previous version's service book. The error message reads: "Service not enabled for this handheld"
Has anyone come up with a fix yet? if not, then does anyone have or know where we can download the older version?

Thx

So it is indeed really a BUG, and I feel it very annoying, because update to yahoo messenger for blackberry doesn't happen every month and I really don't understand how, after more than one year without update, you release a new versions with so big bug.
Anyway if someone from RIM or Yahoo see this message, please do something

Thks

I was getting the 'Uncaught exception java.lang.error' after each restart even after I wiped my 7130e. When installing 2.0.33, I chose to upgrade from the 1.0.95 version. The yahoo icon would never appear even after multiple delete, reboot, re-install attempts. Perhaps deleting the old version first would have been a better choice.

This is how I got 2.0 working and fixed the uncaught exception errors.

1) delete yahoo messenger from applications
2) make a backup of all data
3) backup 3rd party apps using switch device wizard (instructions in another thread)
4) remove current version of device software on PC
5) install older version of device software on PC (remove vendor.xml, etc.)
6) start application loader and downgrade without backing up data when prompted
7) install current version of device software on PC (remove vendor.xml, etc.)
8) upgrade without backing up data
9) restore 3rd party apps using application loader
10) restore all other data
11) install yahoo messenger 2.0

I believe the reason this method is successful when a wipe doesn't fix it is because the downgrade/upgrade process removes all applications and forces them to be re-installed.

Wonder if they are having some problem with the Yahoo-MSN part on the server side because it worked just fine the first day when I downloaded it. Hasn't worked right since.

Wirelessly posted (AT&T (Cingular) 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

'Uncaught exception java.lang.error' and/or no icon were also occuring on my friend's 7290 and his wife's 7250 tonight after I helped them upgrade tonight.

After several retries, reboots, deletes, and battery pulls I got it working by deleting the old net_rim_yahoomessenger module (v 1.*.*)

In fact after one install attempt, I deleted the old module (without deleting the app), then after the reboot, the new version's icon and everything started working.

So, on both the problem was the old module. I checked them afterwards and there is no module now.

I saw this in the 8700 forum, and it worked for me. You just have to remove the module, it reboots, and the icon is there.

You have to go into the Options -> Advanced Options -> Application, then MENU and goto Modules; the module from version 1 will be there...delete it and it will restart. The icon should then be visable once the device has restarted.

All good so far but haven't worked out how to get sound alerts when contacts come online.

Exclamation How-To: Use Yahoo IM 2.0 with AT&T

I got this info from a user on another forum:

Info:

RIM's Yahoo Messenger requires a specific service book "BBFS2 [YHO]" to be able to use the program. AT&T (formerly Cingular Wireless) does not provide that service book even though you can download and install Yahoo Messenger just fine. Their goal is to get users to download the OZ IM application from MediaNet because it uses text instead of data.

If your phone is unlocked, you can insert another GSM carrier SIM card (such as T-Mobile) and download/install Yahoo IM. At that point, you should check your service books to make sure you have "BBFS2 [YHO]" listed and then switch back to your SIM. If your phone is locked, continue reading.

Instructions:

SORRY, THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR MAC USERS

1. Download the Yahoo Messenger 2.0 service book from HERE

2. Connect your device to your PC

3. Open Desktop Manager and restore that service book (Click here for How-To)

4. Manually register your handset with the RIM network via the HRT editor (Click here for How-To)

5. Log into your BIS account and re-send BIS service books
BIS 1.8 from PC Click Here
BIS 2.0 from PC Click Here
BIS 2.0 from Handheld Click Here

* If applicable, regenerate encryption keys for Desktop Manager or BES. If you're on a BES, again, make sure your BES admin can create a policy allowing Yahoo IM traffic.

** If the service does not work right from the install, try doing a hard reset (pulling/reinserting battery).

*** This info was compiled by numerous sources from across the web. It was my goal to simplify the instructions to help AT&T users download, install, and use Yahoo Instant Messenger 2.0

Hope this works for the ATT users.

Angry Problems with Yahoo2.0.33

Hi there. I am an Aussie user and have a Curve 8300. I use Optus. I downloaded the 2.0.33 software on the weekend and I am also having heaps of problems:

1) the Windows Live messenger problem(s) others have described ie I can see them on line and it says "user is typing" but nthg ever comes back from them on the screen (I dont even get the offline messages when I sign in and out).
2) finding that some messages (send and receive) to yahoo ID's are either not getting there at all or are being received after a long delay.
3) Sometimes its booting me out with some message about 'network server'. It then takes me a couple of sign in attempts to get back on line
4) Also have the icon still there from the old version that I cannot get rid of

The old version worked fine (apart from not being able to speak with Windows live/ Msn contacts). I also made the mistake (now in hindsight) of upgrading the old version.

Problem 2 in particular is really bad because you dont know if someone has just stopped talking or whether they are waiting for a reply.

HELP: I don't not know how to go back to the old version. Does anyone have any fixes to the above and/or way I can go back to the old versions

Is there a way to see if the IT people are in fact blocking yahoo or not? Ours are impossible to get straight answers out of.
