Thanks. I didn't think I had missed something that major, but the post did have me confused. (Now, no one say...easily done! )

Installed .42 on my brand new 8310 Curve & works like charm, no issues at all, very stable, no issues with battery, memory card or anything at all.

Has anybody had any problems with the 8800 OS 4.5.0.42? I have noticed a couple of bugs... is there a huge difference between the official release of 4.5.0.37? What exactly IS the difference between the two OS's? I have 4.5.0.42 and am debating whether I should downgrade to the official 4.5.0.37 release to fix some of the bugs. Can anybody advise me on what I should do?? Thanks!!

my battery life is horrible, HORRIBLE with .42 I'm going back to .37
On a side note... I noticed the other day that if i plug the bb into my car stereo, i can now hear the other person through my speakers, and talk through my handset. Sweet!

Andrews and others,
Explain this a little more, if you delete all the .dat files do you have to reboot again to get the scanning to work correctly or can you get it to rescan without rebooting? I have this problem from time to time and a reboot usually fixes it but would love a better method!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Is there any other bugs or benefits for the two different OS's for the 8800 series?

Which two different OSs?
As a rule, a later release of an OS version is better, with less bugs.
And, as a rule, there are always exceptions to all rules!

Only because the bugs get older.

Sounds like a correlary to another rule I saw the other day. In a bachelor's home, anything which hasn't been moved in over 2 weeks is officially a knick-knack and part of the decor.

Camera
I have the common problem of dark pictures. I really want my camera to work for the next couple of weeks, so I decided to expermient. I copied the net_rim_bb_camera.cod file from the old Tmo .107 to the new beta .42. I now get the error msg on my BB of net.rim.plazmic.mediaengine.service.node.textnode not found when I try to access the camera. If I restore the .42 camera file to .42 it works again but is still way too dark. Any suggestions or am I just stuck with downgrading for a couple of weeks?

Hi, all.
Does anyone have the issue where their 8310 will freeze after a number of days? The red light will stay illuminated (red) and essentially lock up until I remove the battery and reset. No data is lost in the process.

I'm on an 8800, and haven't had any issues like that. The only glitch i've seen on my phone is when you get a voicemail and the reminder pops up and it shows something like (@ ___ !@) instead of something like "Voicemail Waiting" Does anybody know how to fix this? or are having the same problems?
