Does anyone know why ScoreMobile needs to have allow for the “phone” application permission settings?

Prior to me asking this question here, I submitted the question on ScoreMobile website. I have not heard back from them.

Anyone using ScoreMobile know why it requires the “phone” application permission set to allow? Here is RIM’s definition of “phone” permission: Set whether third-party applications can make calls or access call logs. As I haven’t used ScoreMobile, what feature in app requires making calls or viewing call logs?

I wonder if there is something fishy / shady going on here that this app requires access to the phone permission.

Phone permission is also required for SMS access (listening for, or sending SMS).

If you don't want to grant Phone permissions, select the "Edit" permissions when you install, and set it to "Ask" or "Deny".

I know that some apps use SMS for system notifications, or a "poor mans" push system.

ScoreMobile requires the 'phone' application permission to be set to allow so that you are able to use many of the features associated with ScoreMobile.

Some of these features include being able to share news stories via Facebook, and also, being able to add games to your calendar.

We don't keep any of your phone information on file. The permission is simply to allow you to receive the app's built in features.
