BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1165 (Multilanguage)
This release will work on any carrier's device by following the directions below.

Package Version: 6.0.0.1165
Consisting of:

* Applications: 6.0.0.337
* Software Platform: 6.4.0.142
* File name: 9800M_PBr6.0.0_rel1165_PL6.4.0.142_A6.0.0.337_Beel ine.exe
* File size: 167.91MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BE2BF2D3D7ECE3

Instructions for installing on the 9800:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Are you just going off the version number? Internal revisions could be just slightly off or different than the public revision number...it would not be the first time I've seen this in software. Generally last minute fixes end up like this unless the company has a very strict policy on changing the revision number even at the smallest change.

The languages may be different, but the code is the same. RIM has a very strict naming convention.

Yeah, already verified against my device as well. Not a single update in official from the leaked "beta". I guess it's good to know that the "beta" was not really a "beta"

It is considered beta (here) until it is released by a carrier.
Most of the versions we see as betas never make it that far.

Anyone have reports of this OS? Worth an upgrade from .246?

Thanks.

If you look at the beta thread on .337, I asked the same question and the response was positive for .337. It seems that the browser in particular is improved. Certainly it does not seem to have the message touch-screen issue that .284 (the previous "official" OS) had.
I will be upgrading shortly, so cannot advise from personal experience yet.

There are multiple threads opened in the OS6 and Beta forums on .337.

Most like it, some have problems.

Same story with every new version.

I had the opposite experience. My browser seem slower. Vids seemed to buffer for longer than normal or not load at all. I ended up going back down to 284
I'll try and upgrade again and see if I get the same results. I hope not.

I just loaded it. No problems so far, appears pretty slick. I just noticed however, that during the upgrade it loaded several instructional videos on my media card! HUH? I'm going back in and deleting them as soon as I have time. Won't let me do it on the 'berry.

oK, I won't let me delete those instructional videos off my media card? I can't even find them and I've looked at both cards. Any ideas?

Loaded it last night. The big difference I am seeing so far is battery life. I was having a big issue with it dying in less than day. Have had it off the charger since 10:00 last night and 13 hours later I'm at 85% battery life.

Battery life has improved dramatically for me.
It however has not solved the occasional loss of wifi browsing and I have to do a battery pull to reset it.
