From what I can gather, you would basically be signing up for a new 2 yr contract buying from amazon.
then you would be paying twice as much, and have 2 contracts.

I really think you need to contact Verizon with your questions. As Midnightdraven said, the Amazon deal is for a new phone with new contract. The only way you are going to be able to find out for sure what you options are is to ask Verizon.

Did you complete this? I was thinking of upgrading my phone through Amazon Wireless as well. It is by far, the best price for the Tour. However since they are new to the wireless game, I am wary. There are some contract caveats though. It looks like they will send you a stiff penalty bill if you change your plan within the first 6 months of your new contract. See below for a list of the caveats with Amazon Wireless:

"By accepting this equipment discount, you agree that for a period of 181 days after your new equipment is activated, you will not:

- disconnect this line of service
- change your service plan to one with a lower monthly rate (e.g.: from $59.99 to $29.99)
- cancel required plan options such as BlackBerry or PDA/Smartphone data features
- fail to pay your balance due each month

If you do any of the above you will be subject to additional charges by AmazonWireless of up to $250 per device, plus applicable taxes."

I am on my fourth Tour. This one is it. All previous devices had the trackball issues, and one had a battery problem. I do believe these issues are now fixed. It really is a great BB, especially since the problem have been resolved.
