Arrow BBSmart Alarms Pro v1.1 Released

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

We have now released v1.1 of BBSmart Alarms Pro! Thanks for your patience!

The aim of this upgrade was to focus on correcting a couple of silly mistakes that slipped through with v1.0 and also eliminating some of the bugs/pain-points users encountered. As with all our upgrades, this is free.

Changes Include:
- Significantly reduced package size
- Fixed up "check for updates" functionality
- Fixed up button definitions (clearer when selected and not selected)
- Home screen icon maintains correct color after hard-reset
- Keyboard shortcuts for creating quick (Q), regular (R) alarms
- Added in "Minimize" option
- Added in quick "Saving" popup option to provide visual notification alarm changes are saved
- Fixed up bug with "Trial" status bar still displaying after registration
- Fixed up bug with alarm highlighting when using a non-default theme
- Added in information for what actions to take when no alarm sounds

How To Upgrade
Unfortunately, as you can see from the list above, one of the bugs in v1.0 was that the "Check for Upgrades" functionality did not work correctly So, in order to upgrade on this occasion, please point your BlackBerry Browser to:

- If you currently have the trial of v1.0 installed:
http://www.blackberrysmart.com/otatrial.html

- If you currently have the registered/purchased v1.0 installed:
http://www.blackberrysmart.com/otafull.html

On the site that loads, select "BBSmart Alarms Pro" and make sure the version listed is 1.1. If it isn't, you might want to refresh the page. Then click Download and when prompted to overwrite the current version installed, select "Yes".

What's Coming Up
Now that the v1.1 is out, we'll start working away at v1.2 which we anticipate will be a feature-packed big upgrade; taking in and implementing all the great feedback we've received from everybody in the other thread.

If you have any queries please don't hesitate to post away here - I'll be monitoring this thread and making sure everybody gets answered. Otherwise, please feel free to shoot me a PM or even contact our support team at [email address] who will be happy to help out.

P.S: Sorry about the second thread Mods - didn't want this upgrade notice to get lost in that one

Cheers,
Neil.

My phone automatically turns off at 11pm and turns back on at 7am. That way no phone call or email alerts make noise during those "quiet periods." BUT the normal BB Alarm will wake the phone up even during those periods and sound the ALARM so it can be used as an Alarm Clock even when POWERED OFF.

It appears that BBSmart Alarms Pro does NOT wake the phone up and so it does not sound any alarm prior to 7am (in my case).

Is this true or as the orig question posed, is there a setting to overcome this limitation.

Obviously, for during its normal ON periods, the multiple alarms are a nice addition but I was looking for something to wake me at different times on different days of the week - but while the phone is powered OFF

Hi FF2,

Right now BBSmart Alarms Pro doesn't do this, but I think we might be able to put this in with v1.2. It's certainly the #1 requested feature so we'll give it our best shot.

Great fixes! Looking forward to next release/updates.

I hope these could be added:

*Time in hours, minutes until next alarm (countdown)
*From alarms page, option to use one key press to disable/enable alarm (without going into settings for that alarm)

thanks for listening!

For your second suggestion, you can currently use the sequence Click-Click-Escape to toggle the alarm since the focus is on the Enabled checkbox when you open the individual alarm settings. IMO, it doesn't get much simpler.

In the interim (until v1.2), consider using the Quiet profile at night instead of turning the phone off.

Just upgraded, everything looks good so far. Just so everyone knows, the new pop-up "saving..." notification is an option so if you want to see it you have to enable it. Great work Neil, thanks for listening to the users!

Neil, don't forget:

1. variable snooze, pop-up snooze time when alarm sounds
2. different snooze times not just 2, 5, 10, etc... we need to choose any time
3. alarm should ring till WE snooze or dismiss, or till the battery runs out.

will buy program once these options are implemented,
until then i will use the 'other' nice free alarm program...

Nice Job on the upgrade! In the upcoming revision, is it possible to make it a user option to auto-load the application? I know this was discussed in the other thread, and some need the alarm running at all times and appreciate it automatically loading - but I prefer it to not load and then I can turn it on when I need it.
Thanks again!

Just curious - the sample screens show colors for alarm entries. Is there a way to set/change colors that I am not finding?

Enabled alarms are green, disabled are red, and snoozed alarms are purple.

You can always Force Exit to terminate the application.

Nice app indeed; kudos.

My 2¢ for your consideration: Allow use of personal backgrounds (preferred) or colors for the app and alarm screens. (Personally I do not need the nice screens; a simple background shall do.) The ability to also change the alarm font would be nice.

As mentioned before, having the alarm come up even if the BB is off shall be a big plus.

PS From a document recycler : The manual makes reference to BBSmart Email Viewer in pages 1 (1st bullet from the bottom up) and 4 (2nd bullet from the top down). Cheers!

Thanks - I realize that, and is what I do now. But most times after I reboot my phone I forget - and it running is just an unnecessary use of the phones resources. It's no big deal - just a suggestion!
Thanks,
Don

Nice idea... I also think it would be valuable.. probably also easy to implement.

Also, I should mention... VERY nice update Neil. I appreciate the fast work! Great product. I'm recommending it every chance I get.
