Default OWA 2007 Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi. We have two new Blackberry 8300's (V. 4.2.2.89, Platform 2.4.0.39) at our office that need to access email via Microsoft Outlook Web Access under Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

I got though the issues with the SSL and would be glad to help anybody that is having trouble with that.

However, when I log into OWA from the 8300; I can see my messages but cannot open any messages. When I click the message subject, the cursor goes to the search field. Same problem when I click 'send' to try and send messages- the cursor goes to the search field and does not send.

This is driving me crazy. I have been researching the problem all day on the Internet with no luck. I have to admit that I honestly hate the current state of mobile communication devices in general (with the exception of simple cell phones that actually work) and I would sincerely appreciate any info that can shed light on this critical issue. Thank-you!

Danny

If you are on a BIS you should be able to setup your OWA to be delivered right to your BB like any other email. You just need the server address and your password

Default Does BIS cost extra?

Thanks for the reply.
I tried to set-up an account at the BIS site and it says the PIN/IMEI are invalid. Does that service cost extra? (We have the data service). Thanks!

Not sure if OWA 2007 via BIS would work anyway this article seems to imply it's not supported (unless anythings changed since this was written)OWA Access

BIS and Exchange 2007 do not work and play well with each other. You options are to forward the mail to the blackberry.net account or turn on POP or IMAP on Exchange.

OWA for Exchange 2007 doesn't like access from a mobile browser. I have the same problem with it on my PDA using Pocket IE. It worked once using Opera Mini on my PDA. Never tried it on my Pearl.

Thanks! We're working towards implementing BlackBerry Enterprise Server which, from all I can tell, is by far the best solution for Outlook email on the Blackberry. I'm probably going to have to install BES directly on our Exchange 2007 server so; I'm being as cautious as time will allow... Thanks again,

Danny

I wouldnt install BES on your Exchange Server directly. It uses a different version of MAPI which can cause problems for Exchange. I dont believe RIM supports an install on the Exchange Server itself or in a DMZ.

You dont need a high-powered server to run BES. A simple Dell 1900/50 will do the trick.

Im running my BES on a Dell PE1750, Single 2.8GHz Proc, 3GB RAM, with 1100 users. It works just fine.

Thanks for the info. What OS are you running on your BES server? And, did you have to put that machine on a public IP address or do you have your router or firewall configured somehow to forward requests from the Blackberries to a private IP address? We're running Exchange Server 2007 under Windows Server 2003 Standard x64.
