Hi. I'm working on a new MSN messenger for BlackBerry
and i'm looking for beta testers to test the pre-release version.
The purpose of this software is to provide a non subscription based solution, and that does not use server side proxy (proxy based solutions require that your ID and password to be given to a third party). So it's a good alternative
to Verichat, IM+ etc which are based on those models.
The current version requires a MDS/BES in order to work, I'm working on a WAP gateway based version also for people (like me) who own a BlackBerry but don't have Enterprise servers. By the way, in this forum, you can find a thread where you learn how to upgrade your BlackBerry OS to 4.0 from 3.6 or 3.7 which allow you to use Internet connection without WAP gateway! I used a T-Mobile upgrade file on an Orange brand BlackBerry 7230, it worked. You need to do a backup before upgrading, then restore the backup after the OS upgrading so the operator's specific certificates etc get copied back, which is important to get the email work again. But overall, the upgrading process is not too stressful. I found the Windows installers be very slow to progress, so please be patient and wait, but in my case, they did work.
I'll be happy to offer a free licence to the users who would like to help me to finalize the software and test it. Please send me a quick email to
gtxp1 @ turbosite.com if you want to beta test the software (put bet BlackBerry messenger in the subject). The software is quite stable now, so there shouldn't be too much risk to test it.
