T-Mobile has a nasty tendancy to do that. (This is carrier dependant)
Try reconfiguring Verichat to use the MDS method (and configure your Options->APN to "wap.voicestream.com) and seeing if it is more reliable.
If not, one solution is to purchase a Hosted BES/MDS solution.
Another solution is to wait till the next version of Verichat.

No. T-Mobile unlimited includes everything. No hidden caps on T-Mobile fortunately. You can gobble up TCP/IP data...
MDS is more reliable, make sure you configure the Options->APN or Tools->APN via your main BlackBerry menu, according to the "Configuring Internet" instructions found in my BlackBerry FAQ below.

Yea but if i use mds I have to enable it on the BES server and have to rely on the reliability of the server which sometimes can get a little sluggish.

If the BES is running on a sluggish server, then yes, that can be a definite weak link compared to T-Mobile's usually-slow-and-overloaded wap.voicestream.com server.
There's 3 ways of VeriChat:
(1) VeriChat over WAP (non-BES)
(2) VeriChat over MDS via wap.voicestream.com (Public MDS if you don't have BES)
(3) VeriChat over MDS via blackberry.net (whenever APN is blank, and whenever you're running BES)
Forcing VeriChat to use either (2) or (3) can be quite tricky since it's not selectable, although VeriChat sometimes look for the information at Options->APN so if that's filled, it may bypass the BES version of MDS...
Try a little experimentation...

How do I get option 2 to work?
I have my apn set to wap.voicestream.com. I select force mds and it does not connect. I am able to get option 1 and 3 to work but I have a feeling the public MDS will be the most reliable.

It's possible that T-Mobile has not provisioned wap.voicestream.com access for your BlackBerry. You may also need to use your T-Mobile username and password (same as when you login to your BWC/BIS email via the web) when filling in the APN info.

Call me crazy, but using VeriChat I don't see an option to use MDS instead of T-Mobile's connection.
I am regularly booted off AIM and to a lesser extent MSN.

For posterity, while VeriChat is connecting, hit "ESC" and it will ask you to configure your network settings again.
