Default procedure to upgrade from curve to tour

Please Login to Remove!

I searched quickly but must not have used the right terminology...

I currently have a vzw curve with gmail via BIS. I plan on upgrading to a tour in the next day or so.

Is there a formal procedure to upgrade devices such that my contacts and applications are transferred to the new device automatically? I'm using DM 5.0 from Verizon's site (Desktop Software).

thanks

In BIS use change device option, to get service books and email accounts on new device.

Either backup the curve.
and restore that file on the tour.

or use switch device wizard in desktop manager.

thanks. the whole freedom provided by DM is new to me since for the last 5 years (up until about a week ago) I had been living with the restrictive world of a corporate BES that determined what was allowed on my device.

In Desktop Manager, use the Switch Device Wizard. It will back up the old and restore, including third party applications (which won't get copied in a "plain" backup).

Then, from the phone, you can either switch the BIS setting, or go to the BIS web site and do it.

I guess I did it the lazy way. I handed my phone to the Sprint-Nextel representative and told him to transfer it all to my new one. A few minutes later the world was clearer and faster.

Hey, guys, just an add-on question here...if I do the same switch, from a Curve to a Tour, will Desktop Manager still recognize both devices? And will both be updated/sync'd when connected to the same laptop?

(The Tour would be my primary device, but I will let a friend use the Curve.)
