Default Trackball

The trackball on my 8100 has become really shitty, I need to press down on it pretty hard for it to open stuff. Would replacing it with a new one fix this?

Try cleaning it before bother buying a new one,

But if that doesnt work
replacing it definitely will.

I used to clean mine, which caused me quite a bit of emotional trauma. Then I just bought a few extra to have on hand and realized how easy and inexpensive it is to just swap the trackball out. It's almost like having a new phone!

I guess what I'm saying is that at less than $10 shipped each, it's almost easier to just put in a new trackball!

Should I buy a new frame for the trackball (the faux-chrome casing it's in) or just the ball?
Also, how does changing the ball make clicking on things easier? I don't think my ball is chipped or anything.

From time to time, my ball seems to lag a bit. (not making a joke here or anything)

Where in the heck are you finding them for less than $10 shipped? Best price I found was $14!

Amazon is selling it for 6.99 + 2.95 (shipping). I have not tried it, but it came up while I was searching.
