I currently have a 7290 on UK O2 with unlimited data and I am due for an upgrade.

Choice is as follows

Curve 8300
Pearl
8800
8707g

Which one would you choose?

Does your work allow camera into the word environment?

Do you need GPS?
Do You Need Camera?

Personally, i would go ahead with the curve, if you need GPS then 8310 is the choice. GPS and wifi 8820 is the choice but then you sacrifice the camera. need Camera and Wifi but no GPS then 8320.

Pearl is cool if you want a handphone like formfactor. Though i heard that getting used to suretype takes some time.

Check out the BB in your local shop to see which one you like, that will make sure you make the right decision.

Good points there, I dont use it for voice at all and I dont need a camera as my voice phone as a 3.2mp so that does everything I need when out and about.

Wifi and gps would be good and would be used.

WiFi and GPS means the 8820. You should definitely lay hands on an 8800 just to feel the keyboard though. Keys are close together and some folks have a problem with it. Personally I love it, but you can't make an informed decision without trying out a demo unit.

Yes, good point. Shame the 8820 is not an option for me, O2 do not offer it :(

I know everyone says this but go to an actual store and play around with each one to get a feel for them before you actually purchase. Another big difference is if you want a full QWERT keyboard or are fine with Suretype.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I wish I had a choice. You are lucky. My carrier does not offer much. Waiting on Pearl 2

New option thrown into the mix, the 8120. Thoughts on this model?

Well, due to costs at the moment and Christmas coming I had to go for the 8100. Very happy with it, complete change from the 7290, not sure about SureType though just yet!

I wasn't so sure about SureType at first (excuse the pun ) but got used to it. The trick everyone seems to say is to trust that it gets the right word and keep on typing, rather than going back to correct. I'm as fast with SureType now as I was with the qwerty keyboard of my Treo 650.

Enjoy your new toy!

Its growing on me already. Changed my Pearl colour, hidden most of the icons, changed the theme, turned off all tones apart from a little one when an email comes in (I only use it for mails), installed Facebook and I am about to write my first email.

1 year later, time to replace my trusty 8100

Any thoughts? I might be boring and just get a 8120
